My money is on Dallas. No team needs a second star more than them and this is their best chance to get one during the Luka eta. I think they overpay.

I highly doubt Rob would be lucky to have BKN take Kyrie for Russ without taking back a bad salary and/or pick(s). So we will have to "pay" one way or another. He just better not bid against himself.

So long as Rob doesn't give up BOTH FRPs and/or several of our young players, he absolutely HAS to do this trade. Not only for salvaging this season, but going forward. Anyone saying Kyrie will sign with us for MLE-type money is dreaming. Therefore we need to capitalize on using the RW contract to acquire contract(s) to exceed the cap, particularly someone as talented as Kyrie.

I’d give up both picks unprotected, even one of max or reaves if need to if we get Kyrie for couple years (he’s rehabbed his image in NY btw)

Luka and Kyrie is a bad fit to be honest.

It is but I think the majority of stars are and the ones that are good fits probably won’t become available any time soon. I think it’s a risk they have to take.

They’re the only team I see willing to offer something that beats WB and 2 FRPs.

ESPN is basically just talking Kyrie going to the Lakers for the past 30 mins.

The Lakers unless the picks are like top-10 or lottery protected.

This is the best the Nets can do unless they want role players immediately. Seems it would be redundant with what they already have in Warren, O’Neale, etc.

I’m sure Kyrie is getting traded. The nets are not interested in giving him that max deal or even 3 year commitment.

Rob should say no. I worry that he won't, though. If he sends both FRPs out, one or both must have protections.

We need to turn RW into Kyrie. This team is too flawed and inconsistent with RW.

We also can't discount the fact that Kyrie is going to be a UFA. Not sure if he's able to sign an extension at this point in the season, but that would go a long way toward acquiring him now. It would be a catastrophe if we traded 2 FRPs for Kyrie and he's not on this team beyond this season.

FYI: a straight up Ky for Russ trade is not possible since dude counts as 36.9m (even if he activates his 15% trade kicker, which would be prorated btw). The most inbound salary Bk can trade for with just Ky alone is 46.2m. So they gotta include a min player at least for the money to work in a Russ swap.

As for why we would (depending on who you ask) want Ky to activate his trade kicker…he can immediately be extended after the trade with an activated trade kicker. However if he waived some or all of his prorated kicker, the trading team has to wait 6 months to offer an extension…in which case he becomes a flight risk as an UFA.

“Rehabbed” is a strong word.

He’s on his best behavior to secure that next multi-year contract.

He is a Laker already, there is no chance he would have asked a trade just
to go to a contender, he wants all the drama and legacy with lakers and lbj,
so get ready to accept it.

That's what I'm saying. Jalen Brunson and Dinwiddie are both score first guards that have both played well next to Luka. Dallas should have zero issues there.

Mavs are on the clock with Luka. What reason do they have to not offer 24 and 25 FRP's and Dorian Finney Smith+THJ? Who could they even get with their current assets in the next 2 or 3 years better than Irving?

Not bringing in Irving when his value is this low would be an all time blunder for the Mavs, even if it didn't work out on the court.

It’s done man. Even if they took stipulations out, Kyrie is too proud to sign after that.

This is yet another sign of how totally undependable Kyrie is. Would I still trade for him if the deal is right, yeah, because we know he can be effective playing alongside LeBron. But I won't be turning cartwheels, and I definitely wouldn't keep him beyond LeBron's time.
