I'm not familiar with the source. I heard the claim on MSNBC Nicolle Wallace Deadline: White House. Statements like those alleged should come with consequences if proven to be false.

Exactly, any efforts to make him face any simply play right into his hands by letting him keep up his witch hunt claims.

He's not going to prison. He's not going to be bankrupted by fines and settlements . . . just the opposite. He's going to be the next president because this country is lead by the corrupt and spineless and populated by too many stupid and selfish people.

Trump’s latest flirtation with Nazi symbolism draws criticism

Former President Trump has once again stoked outrage for his flirtation with Nazi rhetoric, this time with a video posted to his Truth Social account that used the phrase “unified Reich.”

The video drew swift condemnation, including from the Biden campaign, which spent the day on the attack and noted it was just the latest instance of Trump using or promoting language often associated with Nazi Germany or World War II dictators.

[...]

Trump’s account on Truth Social shared a 30-second video Monday afternoon that featured various hypothetical newspaper front pages that would follow his victory in November’s election. One read “Economy Booms,” while another touted millions of deportations. Twice, text is visible that references a “unified Reich,” language that drew comparisons to Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich in Nazi Germany.

What a pathetic headline.

Reminds me of NYT style headlines where they say something like "Did Trump Lead An Insurrection? It Depends Who You Ask."

You "draw criticism" if you make a gaffe, not when you use Nazi rhetoric.

NORWAY, IRELAND & SPAIN RECOGNIZE PALESTINIAN STATE

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Norway, Ireland and Spain said Wednesday they would recognize a Palestinian state, a historic but largely symbolic move that further deepens Israel’s isolation more than seven months into its grinding war against Hamas in Gaza. Israel immediately denounced the decisions and recalled its ambassadors to the three countries.

Palestinian leaders welcomed the announcements as an affirmation of their decades-long quest for statehood in east Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip — territories Israel seized in the 1967 Mideast war and still controls.

While some 140 countries — more than two-thirds of the United Nations — recognize a Palestinian state, Wednesday's cascade of announcements could build momentum at a time when even close allies of Israel have piled on criticism for its conduct in Gaza.

This means, the third world will starve .

That's true. Unfortunately it gives him a platform.

He's not going to prison. He's not going to be bankrupted by fines and settlements . . just the opposite.

That, most likely is also true.

He's going to be the next president because this country is lead by the corrupt and spineless and populated by too many stupid and selfish people.

That's the kind of thinking Trump wants. It's defeatist, giveupism. I'm going to continue to believe in democracy and Trump will not be the next president. More voters with spines will go to the polls and reelect President Biden.

I used to worry about the consequences of trying to hold Trump accountable.

But nowadays it is a no-brainer.

The alternative is making him a de facto king.

Let his cultists speculate, complain, and rally. This is America. Nobody is above the law.

And if anybody says, they weren’t gonna vote for Trump. But when we tried to hold Trump accountable to the law. We went too far, and now they are voting for Trump.
Those people were a lost cause all along.

Agreed. Unfortunately, our leadership has failed by postponing prosecution and thus normalizing Trump's actions, rendering attempts to hold Trump criminally responsible ineffective.

That's a given. But that's a different situation than members of our government using that same attitude to thwart attempts at accountability. It doesn't matter what voters are doing when the courts are effectively impotent and the SCOTUS is shielding Trump.

What you and I think should happen is very different from what is happening.

I agree on all accounts.

I think the remedy for the bolded is changing status quo. We need to make being a Congressperson or Senator less lucrative.

We need more legislators who are there to actually do the job.
Most of the Republican legislators are there as prerequisite to make $. While they are there and immediately afterward.

Laws enforcing members of Congress and Senate to show their active investments (Periodic Transaction Reports) need to go from within 30 days to within 24 hours.

A law controlling what jobs Congresspeople and Senators can have for 2-5 years after leaving public office is just as important. Too many parachutes out of office straight into 7-8 figure lobbying positions.

When looking at the Judicial branch and the Supreme Court. It's even more straight forward. Expand the court and end lifetime appointments.

Give anybody a job they can't be fired from. And they'll act a fool.

Supreme Court sides with South Carolina GOP over racial gerrymander case

The Supreme Court upheld a Republican-drawn congressional district in South Carolina on Thursday, reversing a lower court that had declared its boundaries an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.

In a 6-3 ruling along ideological lines, the justices signed off on a design that bolsters the GOP tilt of Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-S.C.) district.

It aids Republicans in holding onto the seat for the future, though their map was already being implemented for this year’s election regardless of the Supreme Court’s ruling.

The high court’s conservative majority rejected arguments that the design impermissibly shifted some 30,000 Black Charleston-area voters to a different district.

Another 6-3 decision reversing a lower court ruling. Republicans continue to rely on a corrupt court to help them disenfranchise voters. Alito wrote the opinion, of course.

Wartime Elections in Ukraine Are Impossible

LINK

Quote:
Article 83 of the Ukrainian Constitution states that if the term of the Verkhovna Rada expires under martial law, it shall automatically be extended until a new Rada is seated following the end of martial law. Article 19 of Ukraine’s martial law legislation specifically forbids conducting national elections. Thus, for Ukraine to conduct elections while under martial law would be a violation of legal norms that predate Zelensky and the full-scale Russian invasion.

They actually upheld that it was, indeed, gerrymandering. However, that there's no proof that it was a racial bias but, rather, along partisan lines. In other words, in the most positive possible spin, the high court has ruled that it's perfectly okay to rig something in your party's favor.

The United States of America, ladies and gentlemen.

Our country just had an attempted coup in 2020 and Trump and the right-wing are currently threatening to install themselves as permanent dictators if they win in November. And Trump will hand Dictator Putin everything he wants including Ukraine, Gaza and NATO. So why aren't you worried about that?

I just don't see a path forward for keeping the SC the way it is moving forward.

Have to expand the court and/or end lifetime appointments.

The lifetime appointment was a very poor choice for structuring the system, particularly with no direct mechanism for review during tenure and dismissal for misconduct.

It should be changed to 10 year terms, with no more than two and an approval system for the second. No judge should sit for longer than a generation.
