It's not the lack of effort, when teams shoot lights out they're impossible to defend. You just have to hope they go cold, which they did in the second half. Last night Dallas had no problem with SAC because Sac shot way over their heads vs. us and were bound to cool off, which they did.

While this may be true for just one game, the Lakers have been lately playing relatively poorly compared to earlier in the season. They've been cutting it really close against sub-par teams. Ever since Artest has been out, the Lakers have been lackluster on the defensive effort, giving up 111.75 ppg and opponent FG% at 49%. While the sample size is still a bit small at only 4 games, it seems more indicative of a lack of effort than hot shooting. Just because a team is hot doesn't mean that the Lakers shouldn't play some defense. It's not good news if the defensive strategy for the Lakers is to just hope that the opposing team gets cold. Even though Artest is out, the Lakers have still shown flashes of very good defense, but it is only in spurts. If they had a more sustained effort, maybe they wouldn't have needed to dig in deep to beat teams like the Warriors or the Kings.

As pointed out in the 1st page, Dallas has a really deep bench. Most likely our starters will play heavy minutes again, since our bench really sucks (not only when compared to Dallas' bench, but to any team in the league).

We have to play as well defensively as we can, make Dirk have to play defense. Would be nice to have someone to attack Jason Kidd too.

WE need Ron.. no ron likely a loss. Dallas has been playing very well and we not so much. If we play D like we have the past few, it will be a long night.

Our last two games against Dallas are both the second of back-to-backs on the road. If we lose tonight, they will sweep us.

Hey, I'm new to the forums and not from around the L.A. area. Is there any site where I would be able to watch Lakers games? Thanks.

Our first game vs Dallas early in the year was one of the worst games I've seen this group play. We need to bring our A game tonight at both ends. We really need this win to prove we are still the best team around.

Scary game tonight. Hopefully we guard the pick n roll a lot better this time around...Kidd and Marion were just killing us last time. Most importantly, I hope the Lakers come out ready to play on both ends of the floor tonight. Sheesh, lots of hoping tonight. Go Lakers!

No doubt we miss Artest, and not having him forces Phil to turn deeper to the bench.
