Kobe was swarmed there, it's actually impressive he managed to kick it out before the inevitable block.

Unfortunately, the only other guy set up was Artest.

Blake was hot, Brown was hot at the 4th.

Why no them on the court then?

its ridiculous how we all saw the same last second play and some say kobe should have shot it, some say bad pass to artest and some say ron hesitated...bottom line...they lose with all three options

Ron's fault? Kobe's fault? How about, "the griz played great defense"?? That's what I saw at the end.

You can clearly see that Pau and Odom's play on the defensive end is suffering because of their tired legs. Rarely do I see them help on defense.

That, coupled with Fisher's frequency of funneling his man to the post (since it's fairly obvious he can't stay in front of his man anymore) is just a nightmare of a cocktail.

The pass was fine, better than Kobe shooting over 3 people. Ron Artest had an open 3 pointer to win the game, instead he hesitates and shoots an off balanced brick. how exactly is that the fault of Kobe?

Well, some would rather have Kobe shoot over 3 defenders than let anyone else shoot with just one (outside of maybe Blake). Unfortunately, refs were swallowing their whistle on Kobe, allowing the defense to play as close as they want.

Whereas, if we give a little nudge and the defender loses his balance for a second, it's an offensive foul.

They only call it because if the fans see us dunking over a fallen Grizzly, then the refs will get harassed. You saw how lively the crowd was tonight... people standing courtside yelling all game.

Fisher was horrid on defense in the 4th, and thats an understatement.

seriously, just watch the replay of connelly's last layup against us. while fisher's busy trying to draw an illegal screen call, mike connelly is completely free to attack pau one on one in an open court situation. you absolutely CANNOT let that happen. let any pg come off a screen with a running start at your big man on the perimeter with no one else available to help, and the defense is completely at the pgs' mercy. you have to keep contact with your man to limit his options and not just get wiped out of the play.

I see that too. And you're right, the Grizz played that last possession really well. I also thought Kobe was a bit indecisive with what he wanted to do, which really can be credited to the Grizz throwing the team at him in that last second.

Uhm, how about calling a time out? Bad decision making.

Looking forward to the next "smoked fish" rating... At least he hit his shots...

Can't believe Ron had the last shot again! Yeah, I was yelling for a timeout too...

This was on the starters tonite... but I was pissed when Pau made a few baskets and Shannon came in and ignored him right off when he was open.

We should have kept going to him until they stopped it...

It's obvious Kobe lacks the explosion to gain separation, which explains the lack of last second heroics. Let's hope that won't be the case in a month or two.

The lack of a time out? I dunno about that. That can work to our advantage, and has in the past. The difference this time is that the griz's D didn't scramble when the pressure was on them.

I can see how the initial drive Kobe made can be considered an example of that tho. He always goes to the right side elbow when he needs a 2 pt shot, and the griz read it like a babies book.

I don't know, I'm not a big fan of not calling a timeout to set up a shot in the final seconds to tie or win. Sure, the defense will be set but at least a play will be setup to get somebody open.

Watch the play again. Artest was wide open before Kobe left the floor with the defenders swarming. He tossed it back to Ron as a last resort when he knew he wouldn't be able to get the shot off. If he initially looked to set up Ron, he would've had him a half second earlier WIDE open.

Bingo - Kobe did not attack the lane planning to be a passer.

btw, Kobe should have just gone baseline and avoided the extra defenders.
