I have been one of his MOST VEHEMENT TRASHERS lately but I was there in San Antonio for 0.4 and 2001 and 2002 series against the Spurs where you were a 3 point dynamo! I credit your efforts for this organization! Prayers and blessings to you!!!
Yo DFish, it ain't over till it's over!!! Thanks for all your hard-work and professionalism, thanks for being that Iron Man that we needed on this team and a solid leader for our squad!
Hope to see you soon, either on the sideline or in the FO!!!
From .4 to Game 1 of the '09 Finals to Game 3 in '10, when the team needed a basket most you always came through. Best of luck Derek Fisher, you will be greatly missed.
Thank you Fish for all you have given to the Lakers. You are a Laker for life! _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
He'll always be a Laker. Out of all the big shots he made my favorite memory is him decking Scola! I don't think we beat the Rockets if he didn't do that.
Maybe he'll come back next year as an asst coach! That's were he belongs now. _________________ Lakers and Steelers, the two best sports franchises in the world!
This is probably a stupid question. But the article on Fish says Houston is looking at buying out his contract. If that happens, can the Lakers sign Fish again for the vet minimum?
The move had to be done considering the $ and youth coming back to us, but I already miss Fish. He's someone you wanted to retire in a Laker jersey.
Love him to death and some of my favorite basketball memories will be daggers that he stuck in other teams to help us win championships.
I would have loved to see Fish retire a Laker but this move had to be done. I said a few weeks ago that I couldn't see Fish being happy sitting behind anyone short of a D-Will/CP3 PG. If I can't see it I'm sure Kobe, Pau, Bynum, Artest (the 2010 core) wouldn't be thrilled because of their respect for Fish. When you consider that we also got a good role playing big this is an outstanding move.

Nope. They changed that rule. It's possible Fish does retire a Laker. Or worse, he signs with Miami as a designated fourth quarter shooter and comes back to haunt us in a potential Finals match-up.
This really sucks, I think it's starting to sink in for me....
It's definitely a bummer, and I'm sure Kobe's gonna be a bit indifferent about it as well considering Fish was our locker room leader and motivation guy.
But, we had to go younger.
Fish will always be a Lakers legend and deserves to have his jersey retired when all is said and done! _________________ I miss you Kobe. I miss you Gigi.
