I say this with all sincerity, i don't think we could have won the two championships if D-Fish didn't come back.
Yep, although some people believe that a few stars players deserves all the credit, the truth is that we can't win without some key role players who steps up on critical moments.
Question- IF the Lakers win it all this year, should Fisher get a ring? I think so, especially if he is bought out and doesn't play for the rest of the season. We should sign him to a 1 day this summer, let him retire and then have him come back on opening night as a farewell.
Why would Fisher get a ring???
It's up to the team. Sometimes players who aren't there at the end of a season get rings or playoff bonuses.
I can easily see the team rewarding Fisher in that manner. But let's not get ahead of ourselves too much ....
I'm not saying that shipping Fish out was the wrong move, but he had a bond with Kobe beyond any other player he's ever been with...couldn't the Lakers just pick up Arenas and Fisher ride the bench or something. Ramon Sessions?! That's a poor man's Westbrook. Maybe better overall than Fish, but it's only a matter of time to all of LG starts screaming through the threads when the Lakers blow close game after close game due to lack of leadership and clutch play. Who's gonna get the ball when Kobe get's double, triple teamed with 4 seconds left??? Bynum? Artest? It's just my opinion, but...smh. Bad move.
I get the rationale behind the move, but sometimes money isn't everything. Im glad we got Sessions but wanted to keep fish as a clutch time PG spot up shooter off the bench.

1. 0.4
2. The big 3's in 2009
3. The clutch lay-up over the celts in 2010
4. The decking of Scola
5. The 3 point barrage against the Spurs in 2001
So many others the game winner vs. the Mavs this year and the one versus the clips last year ...
Outside of Kobe dude has hit more clutch shots than probably any Laker not named: Kobe or West. thhough he doesnt get the pub he has hit m ore big shots for the Lakers than Horry ...

D-Fish has been instrumental in the Lakers last 5 Championships, and he will definitely be missed. I remember how much of an improvement we had when we got rid of Smush and replaced him with D-Fish. It was incredible. I'll also never forget his clutch play in the Finals vs Boston and Orlando, as well as that incredible 3 pt shooting streak he went on in '01 vs Philly in the Finals.
On a separate note....in the next 5 years, I can definitely envision an NBA coaching staff lead by Brian Shaw as the head coach, with D-Fish and Luke Walton as his assistants. Don't think this will happen anytime soon in LA with Jim Buss around bc he seems so anti-triangle offense, but I could see it happening elsewhere.

Fish, I would admit that sometimes I was mad with you missing layups.

Clutch shots VS Orlando, Big play in the 4th quater vs Boston in game 3, and that big three pointer which changed mr. mo in game 7 will always be remembered.

I know I've had my fair share of critique towards Fish, especially the current and the 2011/2012 season, but I was quite in a somber mood when I found out about the trade and it felt strange, almost dirty not seeing him suit up in the P&G yesterday. Sure Fish was done as a player for some time now, but I don't think he should've been traded and I'm sad to see him go. Laker legend!
Say what you want about Fish's production, but the dude is a pro,period. I'll never forget all the clutch performances and the lil things like crying when the lakers got eliminated in 03', the stare of Death at the ESPYs,etc.
