The more teams I talk to in the late 20's, the less enthusiasm I hear from any of them about keeping their draft picks.

Hopefully we take advantage of this.

Denver's pick at 27 is available, teams tell Y! Nuggets open to future 1st, or moving back into 30's. Nuggets like their young roster core.

Sure would be nice to get maybe one pick if a player of value is around. I guess the Lakers need to crunch the numbers and see how buying a pick, and locking themselves into the salary that follows, affects the 2014 plan.

And of course the Lakers would need to find a team willing to sell to them. Denver (among others) may refuse out of principle.

Ricardo Ledo should be available around the 20's from what I'm seeing from mock drafts.

Well, yes, hopefully Denver or another team is more likely to follow that principle than the "hate the Lakers" one.

I just feel that these opportunities have been available before, and the Lakers rarely seem to act on them. But I don't know if it's because they aren't interested in investing in a 1st round pick, or because they do try to trade or buy up and other teams aren't interested in what the Lakers are offering.

Its all about money. No owner is going to turn down money no matter what perceived hatred they're alleged to have. We bought a pick last year from Mark Cuban.

For a 55th pick. Price was what, $500k?

Yeah. We sold the 29th pick in 2009 to the Knicks for 3 million

Mitch goes out of his way to give away late 20's for nothing. We won't even try to get one, no matter the guys on the board.

We tried to move into the first round last year. We just had nothing to offer.
