Come on......this is where stats dont tell the full story. We saw WHEN D'Lo was doing his damage. It was when the Lakers were starting to get some separation and he just finished the job. Aka. his confidence was already being built up by the team playing well. For this game, the team carried him to a lead and he took them home. If this was a game (like against Denver) where there is no such assurance and confidence needs to be generated by himself against momentum, he needs to step it up then. He did it before - the clutch shooting against Memphis in Game 4 where he made critical threes in the 4th quarter when the Lakers were down.

Even still...excellent defense individually for D'Lo as well.

Not really. Lol he played great. Extended runs and kept runs going and was engaged on defense. This was a LeBron PG game since didn't playmake much, but he did at times

We would have been worst without the 3 point shooting and the level D Lo played after the deadline in my opinion for this season. I prefer Murray though, but not sure he would have had enough time to fit in this season.

DJ was option number ONE for the last quarter of the season and option TWO for the rest. Dlo had a fantastic season no matter how you cut it. Oh and a reminder. He was BENCHED and only played 16 minutes numerous times because Ham loved Cam and TP.

Dlo just has to stay aggressive both offensively and defensively. Regardless if he missed a few shots. Can’t have passive Dlo that shoots 2x a quarter and is depressed enough to let nobodies go around him like he’s nailed to the floor. Rather him go 5-20 instead of 2-9.

Yep! It’s not easy being an efficient, 3rd banana guard next to Bron.

And DLO has done well. He and Reaves do it by committee. I’m hoping they are up for the challenge this postseason.

One of the key reasons I wanted DLO back is his chemistry with Reaves.

I’ll take Dlo’s 3rd option stats over as Murray’s 2nd option stats tho I do like the better rebounds and steals of Murray. I bet 3ptBmber wouldn’t put up the comparison of Murray to the player the Hawks actually wanted. Dare?!?

@TJmiranda
LeBron James has had 247 teammates in his career.

Among them,

D’Angelo Russell finishes this season ranked

1st in 3PM
3rd in APG

Together they led all Lakers 2-man lineups at +219

& the Lakers had a 61.5% win rate (top 6 rate in NBA) when both played.

@IceyDLO
D’Angelo Russell finishes the season with 226 made 3’s.

Fun fact: This is the most 3’s a Lebron James teammate has ever had.

He is the key.

He does that, Lakers win - plain and simple.

Even if he can put up say 2-3 hot shooting games in the whole series where he bangs in a bunch of threes, if he does that and competes on D it's a wrap.

Tall order tho against DEN.

I am a big fan of DLO, and agree that third option stats are MUCH preferred over a second option on a team that isn't very good.

This wasn't posted to crap on him. I am biased towards 3 point shooters since Sasha Vujacic.

I had one expectation for DLO this season:

Shoot above 40% on threes on high volume. He did that AND broke the Laker record for 3s.

The guy should be shooting 10+ threes a game. Is he streaky? Sure, but even Steph and Klay have off nights.

DLO NEEDS to be shooting at a high volume.

If he goes 1/10 each game in a sweep, ship his ass out, but what he has brought to the team has been INVALUABLE.

People forget what this team looked like with Westbrook + LeBron it doesn't work.

Won’t happen if his usage rate goes down significantly like it did in Denver series last year.

Bad ass! Defense was on point, and he was locked in. Love it. Make the haters eat it. So satisfying. He single handedly kept us in the game in the early going.

Keep it going! Bring on Denver!

Him making plays defensively IS different from last year. Huge steal because he stayed engaged in the play defensively, then later he buried the 3 down the stretch to give us the lead we finished the game with.

Just a monster game. 2nd leading scorer for us tonight, with a 6-1 a/to ratio. Really important game for him show up in. Was nervous time down the stretch.

Now is the real test. D'Lo passes this test and we somehow someway win this series, we are winning the title barring injuries. The "T" part of my brain says this series is already a wrap barring an injury to a key Nuggets player. But the "F" part is saying let the HOPE go on.

I will say if the Lakers beat the Nuggets, it will be the third truly biggest surprise Ive witnessed in basketball heading into a series. The first was 1994 Seattle vs Denver. The second was 2011 LA vs Dallas. This would be the third.

Sorry woops you are correct. Make it the fourth....and after the Warriors won Game 4 in Cleveland, I knew the Cavs were done. Or I should say I truly believed the Cavs were done.
