LA Lakers Rumors: Team May Be Looking To Trade Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, And Others For Big Names

LA Lakers Rumors Julius Randle trade DeMarcus Cousins

The LA Lakers are really hoping to be big-time players in the 2015 NBA free agency season, but they may end up doing it more with trades than signings. Right now, there are rumors floating around that they would be willing to part with their last two first round draft picks in order to land someone like DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings.

Right now, the Lakers appear to be going after LaMarcus Aldridge and a couple other players in free agency, but trade options may be more attractive.

Read more at http://www.inquisitr.com/2216980/la-lakers-rumors-team-may-be-looking-to-trade-julius-randle-dangelo-russell-and-others-for-big-names/#xA7e2bZQvhLYDUH2.99

I have NO idea what the Lakers want. The quick fix does not help, have we NOT learned anything from Nash breaking down and Dwight leaving? Can we please stay with our youth movement and rebuild? We knew we would not win a ring until Kobe retires, he knew he would not win a ring signing that 2 year deal. Why change course now?

Lakers reportedly out of the running for LaMarcus Aldridge
By Matt Moore | NBA writer
July 1, 2015 5:38 pm ET

Never send a Black Mamba to do a teddy bear's job.

LaMarcus Aldridge met with the Los Angeles Lakers immediately when free agency opened at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday night, and they had a lot to offer. A max contract. The LA weather. An entertainment industry and marketing superpower to earn him untold millions in sponsorship money and other opportunities. The ability to be an LA star, which is unlike anything else in the NBA

Report: Kevin Love plans to meet with Los Angeles Lakers

FRESNO, Calif. – According to a report, free-agent power forward Kevin Love plans to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers at some point this week.

ESPN's Chris Broussard tweeted the news out early today, the official kick-off day of free-agency. The Lakers are fresh from a recruiting sit-down with another free-agent power forward in LaMarcus Aldridge.

Love, 26, has always been attracted to Los Angeles. He played his collegiate ball at UCLA, and it's where his longtime girlfriend resides. He has been rumored to returning to Southern California throughout his professional career.

I'm probably the only one happy about Aldridge not signing with the Lakers and want Keven Love to. I want Upshaw and Sacre to hold down center.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Portland Trailblazers forward and unrestricted free agent LaMarcus Aldridge will not join the Lakers next season, according to a report Wednesday.
Aldridge met with a number of Lakers representatives – a delegation that reportedly included owner Jim Buss, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, Kobe Bryant, head coach Byron Scott and James Worthy – soon after the NBA free agency season officially began Tuesday night.

Lakers Rumors: Breaking Down Free-Agent Targets to Fill Frontcourt Need
By Rob Goldberg , Featured Columnist Jul 1, 2015

The Los Angeles Lakers are slowly building a formidable roster, but adding a big-name free agent could accelerate the rebuilding process.

Adding No. 2 overall draft pick D'Angelo Russell to a lineup that should feature a healthy Kobe Bryant and talented young guard Jordan Clarkson would create a respectable backcourt. The problems come in the frontcourt, where the team has little hope for the future outside of last year's first-round pick, Julius Randle.

Fortunately, there are plenty of quality frontcourt targets available who could make an immediate impact with this team. Here is a look at some possibilities currently considering a future with the Lakers.

A brief history of Kobe Bryant helping people decide they don't want to play for the Lakers
By Rodger Sherman  @rodger_sherman on Jul 1, 2015, 6:39p +

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports
Kobe Bryant is an all-time legend. He's also kind of a sociopath who likes telling very good basketball players they aren't as good as him.

 TWEET (9) SHARE PIN
LaMarcus Aldridge came away from his meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers not wanting to play for the Lakers. It was widely speculated he wanted to play for the league's marquee franchise throughout the free agency process, but he reportedly felt the meeting focused too much on "outside opportunities" -- COME TO L.A.!!!!!! WE HAVE MOVIES!!!!! -- and not enough on basketball.

He also reportedly "didn't gel" with Kobe Bryant, who made a strange, strange, strange pitch:

LAME!

List of reasons why he didn't sign:

1) Didn't gel with Kobe. Total BS
2) Not impressed with Jim Buss
3) Presentation sucked
...

All of it is such nonsense. He didn't come because he is old and wants to go to a situation where he has a good opportunity to win it all. Unfortunately at this time that team is not the Lakers. Stars will come to this team if they feel they are the final piece to the puzzle. No star player is going to come here to play with a bunch of role players and rookies.

NBA Free-Agency Rumors: Lakers Express Interest to Re-Sign Jeremy Lin, Jordan Hill

Lakers Free-Agency Rumors (Photo : REUTERS)

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly shown interest in re-signing both Jeremy Lin and Jordan Hill after their meeting with free-agent power forward LaMarcus Aldridge didn't end up well per report by L.A Times NBA scribe Mike Bresnahan.

With Aldridge reportedly not impressed by their recruitment pitch and other free-agency targets (Kevin Love inks with Cavaliers to a five-year $110MM deal and Tyson Chandler agrees with the Phoenix Suns to four-year, $52MM contract) signing elsewhere, the Lakers are starting to run out of options in the gradually thinning free-agency market.

According to Mike Medina of Los Angeles Inside SoCal, the Lakers are now leaning towards re-signing several reliable players who played for them last season, including Lin and Hill.

2015 NBA free agency: Lakers reach out to Ed Davis
By Bob Garcia IV

It’s been no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers would like to bring back free agent forward Ed Davis, and the team made that clear when they reached to veteran big man after the free agency period began on Tuesday night, according to Mark Medina of the LA Daily News.

Davis made the decision last month to decline the second year of his two-year, $2 million contract that he signed with the Lakers last summer. The 26-year-0ld is coming off his most productive season averaging career highs across the board in points (8.3), rebounds (7.6), assists (1.2), blocks (1.2), field goal percentage (.601), and games played (79). He was arguably the Lakers’ best rim protector, and certainly outplayed the worth of his contract.

He was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors, where he spent his first 2 1/2 seasons with the team. He was sent to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a blockbuster three-team trade in January 2013 that landed Rudy Gay in Toronto.

Lakers News: Latest Free-Agent Buzz on LaMarcus Aldridge, Iman Shumpert and More

By Alec Nathan , Featured Columnist Jul 1, 2015
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers may be on the verge of striking out on one of free agency's biggest names, but that doesn't mean their pursuit of improvement is being hindered entirely.

With a variety of role players taking calls and fielding offers, the Lakers find themselves in the mix for a handful of intriguing perimeter weapons who could help bolster their offerings on both ends of the floor.

After ranking 17th in three-point percentage (34.4) and 26th in opponents' long-distance conversion rate (36.3 percent), it's only reasonable to expect L.A. to continue pursuing improvements in the three-and-D department.

Lakers Rumors: Hottest Trade and Free-Agent Buzz on Dwyane Wade and More
By Mike Chiari , Featured Columnist Jul 1, 2015

After selecting guard D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers are ready to usher in a new era through trades and free agency.

L.A. has some money to spend, and its roster is also a blank slate of sorts, with only veteran Kobe Bryant, young forward Julius Randle and Russell looking like sure things to receive significant playing time. A lot of work needs to be done in order for the Lakers to become competitive in the Western Conference again, but they have an opportunity to improve rapidly.

With the offseason now in full swing, here is a rundown of the latest trade and free-agent rumors surrounding the Lakers.

Lakers are no longer in the running to sign LaMarcus Aldridge

Portland Trail Blazers' LaMarcus Aldridge runs up court during a game against the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 7.

BY MIKE BRESNAHAN

LaMarcus Aldridge will not be signing with the Lakers this off-season.

According to sources, Aldridge wasn't happy with the presentation the Lakers gave during their late Tuesday night meeting and has crossed the team off his list of potential free-agent destinations.

There were mainly two words used to describe Aldridge's late-night meeting with the Lakers — "engaged" but also "noncommittal."

The Lakers completed their business on the road Wednesday, wrapping up a meeting with Greg Monroe in Washington, D.C., before heading home for a night-time meeting with DeAndre Jordan.

If I were Jeremy Lin, I would write a clause into my contract stating that, if Ed Davis was on the team with me, he and Lin would have to be on the court at the same time for at least 16 minutes a game if they're both healthy, or else the Lakers would have to pay him a kicker of $20 million dollars.

Love stays, Chandler moves, dollars fly in NBA free agency

By Brian Mahoney | AP July 1 at 9:27 PM

Kevin Love has unfinished business in Cleveland and Tyson Chandler will be conducting his in Phoenix.

The first full day of NBA free agency featured skyrocketing salaries and a flurry of moves, though no decision yet from LaMarcus Aldridge. Players and teams agreed to more than $1 billion worth of deals.

Love made his choice quickly, opting to stay with the Cavaliers on a five-year deal that could be worth more than $110 million. He revealed his decision in a piece in The Players’ Tribune.
