A thread for hypothetical NBA trades that make sense. Basically, an LG community generated, better version of Bill Simmons' "Trades That Need to Happen." _________________ Under New Management |

Wolves-Kings Trade
Wolves receive:
Kosta Koufos ($8.7M, 1 year)
Iman Shumpert ($11M, 1year)
Bogdan Bogdanovic ($9M, 2 years)
Kings receive:
Andrew Wiggins ($25.5M, 5 years)
Marcus Georges-Hunt ($1.5M, 1 year)
2020 2nd round pick
Tough guy Jimmy Butler is disgruntled with the lackadaisical youth on the Wolves, and since Wiggins has become grossly overpaid with a fully guaranteed, 5-year, $150M extension kicking in this season, he's the obvious Wolf Pup who needs to be moved. The Wolves gain financial flexibility in 2019 as they face having to re-sign Butler and offer a max extension to KAT, while Bogdanovic is the kind of lower usage, smart, C&S wing who could complement their other two ball dominant stars. The Wolves do take on the risk of Wiggins breaking out in his second contract much like DeMar DeRozan, but there's also a chance the older Bogdanovic is more useful as a sidekick than Wiggins could ever be.
The Kings front office is kind of dumb. Having lost out on paying Zach Lavine $20M for the next four seasons, the Kings could pivot to another young scoring wing who doesn't offer much else in Wiggins. For the Kings, Wiggins can put up as many shots as he wants, he's an athletic and at times exciting player who could potentially put butts in seats in the new G1C despite all the losses, and he would be under Kings control through 2023. There's also the chance that he breaks out and becomes a more well-rounded star, though obviously the likelihood of that decreases if Wiggins is a King. And how else are the Kings going to spend their money? _________________ Under New Management |

Hi guys,
I'm currently playing NBA 2k14 then suddenly the Denver Nuggets offered me a trade
Nicola Jokic and T. Craig for Brandon Ingram and K. Caldwell-Pope
Should I take the it? |

Lakers get Kawhi Leonard
Raptors get Luol Deng, Josh Hart, 2019 and 2021 1st round picks. Right to swap picks 2020.
This trade is for when Raptors realize they won't be able to resign. They get 2 picks and right to swap pick and a good young player with Josh Hart. They are willing to take on Deng to match when other players on the team have expiring contracts (edited to clarify: Deng, Jonas, and Ibaka all expire that year after 2019-20 season, which will free up cap space for them to rebuild).
Lakers get best player in the trade and have to let go of prospect Josh Hart. Josh and Leonard play the same position so they would overlap.
For those that say "why trade for him when we can get him next year", its a fair statement but we should try to get him if he's available in trade if possible to avoid another PG situation. That is also why any trade has to start and end with Deng being included. If Deng is not, then no deal and wait for free agency.

Assuming that the goal would be for Toronto to rebuild, I would insist the Lakers take Ibaka, Valanciunas, or Powell in return for some of our ending contracts. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Lakers have the leverage unless there are other teams lining up with better offers to rent Kawhi for half a season.
Also, as mentioned above, Raptors can focus on clearing cap space for 2020 season. Deng, Jonas, and Ibaka all expire that year. Powell expires in 2022 (player option for 2021) and the average annual salary is $10.5 million. |
