Kyrie is a star but he’s not a household name like Kobe, LeBron, etc. where he can count on making this kind of money from endorsements after he retires. He would have to have been truly insane to have opted out. Most people could live off the interest alone of $31 million. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
There’s still hope. From what I understand Kyrie had to opt-in if he were to want a trade. A sign and trade would trigger a hard cap. This way if he were to be traded it wouldn’t handcuff his potential new team.
LeBron for Ayton/Cam/Picks is something I would seriously consider right now
Twenty years from now they will still be playing the clip of when LeBron breaks Cap’s scoring record. Jeanie will 100% make sure the uniform he’s wearing when he does so is a Lakers one. _________________ Charter Member:

That's a really dumb goal to have as the Lakers CEO but okay
“Irving could still be traded to the Lakers, though their leverage in the deal probably vanished once the threat of Irving signing with them outright disappeared.”
“As late as Monday morning, there was still belief a deal could be struck with Irving and the Nets. The “how,” though, was largely out of the Lakers’ control — provided they eventually put their limited future draft picks into play.”
“That, in the end, could be required to sweeten any trade with Russell Westbrook’s extra-large expiring contract, the main reason a third team would enter any deal.”
The middle quote... does that mean Lakers didn’t include picks or am I inferring wrong? _________________

Exactly. That's the kind of thinking for a team in a small market wanting to make their mark, not the greatest basketball franchise to grace the NBA>

Nets FO working us over. Rob will get desperate and fork over multiple first round picks for the right to pay Kyrie (who is hella unreliable) a max extension.
Does this mean this is going to be moved to the Lakers side of the forum again now? :3 _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
