Rams trading away Cooks and owe Gurley (and maybe Matthews) money. You have to question management.
They can't pay everyone. The Super Bowl team fell short. They won't be able to recapture the magic. Looks like they are doing a rebuild and keeping the core pieces.
Dusting off my "Lambs" jersey for next season (whenever that may be)...
So the Rams trade a First Round pick to get Cooks and a Forth Round pick to get rid of him, and even though they also get back a Second Round pick, it all seems rather counterproductive doesn't it? _________________ What does Marcellus Wallace look like?

They are just taking their medicine for some bad decisions. I think they are doing the right thing....getting it over with instead allowing sunk costs to guide them. They will save a little cap, and can probably get a very productive young receiver in the draft with the 2nd Round pick. I think they know they missed their window to win with the current roster and will accept a year or two of maybe missing the playoffs instead of stretching it out for several years of mediocrity only to still have to rebuild.
No real notable signings this off season.
Re-signed 87 year Andrew Whitworth to a 3 year contract. Huh?
Got rid of Gurley and Cooks.
Gurley's body language was crap and I'm not sad to see him go. Dude went Hollywood after year 2 and he can kick rocks for all I care. Cooks was decent, but 1 big hit away from retiring.
I'm assuming we pick up a WR in the draft or slide Josh Reynolds into the WR3 spot. But we will likely run 12 personnel with Everett/Higbee/Kupp and Woods.
Need to fill an RB spot or hope Henderson can produce.

AD needs help, Brockers ain't it. With Ramsey and JJ in the secondary we're ok... LBs need help.
Hopefully these new coaches can work some magic.

This Cooks trade is way more value than the Rams should have gotten, so Bill O'Brien is the gift that keeps on giving. A 2nd round pick for a WR with 5 concussions in a relatively short period of time, including 2 last year in the span of, what, less than a month? His next one could literally knock him out for the entire season. You saw what happened with Jordan Reed. His production was also slipping, but, in fairness, Goff clearly favored Woods and Kupp. I wouldn't be shocked to see him catch 70-80 passes from Watson this year, if healthy. But that's the problem.
Oh, and he's on a 5-year, $81MM deal. (Yes, I realize he won't see all of that, but still.) This is one of the deepest WR drafts in years. The Texans could have drafted a solid WR at #57 overall and done it for cheap. The Texans traded Hopkins for a 2nd (and David Johnson), and gave a 2nd for Cooks. Basically, they traded D-Hop for DJ, Cooks, and a 4th. Anyone in their right mind could tell you that they got shafted. They wouldn't pay D-Hop, but they take on Cooks, a clearly inferior player whose next concussion could quite literally knock him out for months?
As for the Rams, it sucks that they are leaving behind so much dead money between Gurley and Cooks, but getting #57 overall is a really good outcome for Cooks. Now perhaps they can double up on O-linemen in the 2nd Round. Or take a pass rusher or a CB if one falls to them that they really like. There could even be good WR's left, although I don't view that as a need with Woods, Kupp, and Reynolds in tow, plus two solid pass-catching TE's. There's also a chance that a good RB will be there at 52 and 57, though I think I'd wait at least one more round.
Here is a 2020 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Los Angeles Rams:
Round 2 (No. 52 overall)
Round 2 (57, from Texans)
Round 3 (84)
Round 3 (104, compensatory)
Round 4 (126)
Round 6 (199)
Round 7 (234)
Let's see, I like about four offensive linemen, a defensive tackle, a couple of linebackers, a running back, a wide receiver, a safety, a cornerback, a new place kicker, an edge rusher.
We need some kind of new math to get this team right, now.

We picked up a RB to replace TG and a WR to replace Cooks. I'm a little excited.
We wanted to dump Cooks' contract and Snead did it. I'm curious to see how Cooks does playing with Deshaun and D-Hop. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

^Spot on in my opinion.
They are doing the right thing breaking it down and restructuring their approach to the salary cap. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

Yeah, they did everything right except their coach was just not quite ready for prime time and to match wits with possibly the best of all time. That and some bad luck with Gurley put them in a hole. I'm still unsure about Goff, but he is their guy, for better or worse. Also, I'm not sure just how nimble Whitworth will be from a wheelchair in a couple of season, but we'll just have to hope.

I think it's very interesting that they basically eschewed O-line help for the entire draft, save for a very late 7th round pick. They are putting a lot of faith in previous picks like Joe Noteboom to be solutions. They still won 9 games last season with the terrible O-line, but they've also lost A LOT from last year's team on defense, and they've also lost a lot of respected coaches as well.

Rams went for it the last two years, now they are entering the rebuild phase at the worst possible time.
Paying Goff that contract was a mistake.
$110 million guaranteed! They made AD hold out to get his money but it seemed like there was little negotiating on Goff's contract.
I think Gurlley's contract was over $60 mil guaranteed so they've at least shown they're willing to eat the cost of their mistakes.
They've already restructured Goff's contract once to make room for the two defensive players we picked up in FA. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant
The helmet doesn't look as bad as I imagined. They must be pretty confident Ramsey is gonna re-sign.
They're keeping the blue/gold classic Rams uniform look. The all blue might be a colorway or something but it looks like a Charger uniform. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant
Hate the new logos. The LA with the horn/banana/ moon really kills it for me
Jerseys aint half bad.
Might have to pick me up a # 10 or 20 when Ramsey re-signs.
I plan on hitting at least 2 games this year. Getting there gonna be a problem tho. _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."

I was worried one of those awful logos was going to be on the helmet. Other than the blue pin stripe through it, the horns look the same. I even like the new metallic blue.
Might have to pick up a mini helmet for my desk when they're available. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

I think the helmet is good, and the blue and yellow color scheme looks fine enough. But I'm not a fan of the off-white one, and I don't like the numbers.
