49ers got lucky with the Mr Irrelevant pick. You win some and you lose some.

They got insanely lucky, because they bungled the Lance pick (and the draft capital necessary to move up for him) so, so badly. And it's not like Purdy has played a large number of games. There's still a chance that they will be looking for their QB of the future in a year or two. I will say this, he's looked the part so far.

The draft process doesn’t rely on luck, just hard work. Drafting another QB with promise when you already have the QB of the future is a solid pick.

Uh, no. There is definitely luck involved because you don't know how these guys are going to pan out. You can do all the homework in researching the picks and never know how they will pan out because that requires the player putting in hard work and adjusting to playing in the NFL. Then there is also injuries that play into the process as well. Then quite simply there is the mental game. Some players have it some don't.

This team is flat out garbage on both sides of the ball. This is going to be a season from hell.

As I said, it wouldn't surprise me that if they start horribly, they shift into full-on tank mode. The roster has scant depth and might still be one of the worst teams in the league with Donald and Kupp and Stafford, and those 3 aren't going to be enough to win games consistently. It might be different if the O-line was good, but I don't think anyone here thinks that it is. If they actually try to win games, I think they finish around 6-11. So why do that? Tank and try to come away with Caleb Williams or Drake Maye or another top QB prospect.

Well the Rams owned LA for a tiny brief second, back to the Dodgers and Lakers.

McVay showed in the last few games last season that he can coach up lesser talent.
It's pre-season and we are playing 3rd stringers out there. We are running vanilla plays with ZERO gameplan. No need to hit the panic button yet.
I've been thru the Lineghan, Spags and Jeff Fisher teams... This season won't be that.

The price for the Rams going all in for the Super Bowl ring was years of mediocrity, everyone including the fans knew the price.
They discussed this on AM570 and they all agreed it was worth it compared to the alternative which was getting close year in and year out and never winning the entire thing.

This is a really bad roster, and there's only so much that coaching can do. The depth has been hollowed out. If absolutely everything broke right, maybe they can flirt with .500. I think 2 or 3 wins is a much more realistic scenario than 10, personally.

Better to be really bad in the NFL than .500.

Luckily the Rams have mostly kept their picks for the 2024 draft so if they really stink they are going to get some good players. Rounds 1-5 they keep, rounds 6-7 they gave traded away.

I don't mind "trusting the process"... they swung for the fences... and connected! Being a lifetime Rams fan has been mostly pain. I'm still living off of the high of LVI. It's great ammo for all the other team's fans I deal with. I'm going to enjoy looking at the new talent hoping some will shine... and look forward to reloading.

Cooper Kupp had a setback with his hamstring injury. It's unclear right now if he's going to play in game 1 next Sunday.

Guess the Rams aren't as bad as we thought they were supposed to be based on their preseason.

Rams put on one of the worst preseason showings and expectations are vastly lowered. Go up to Seattle and ball out. I see what they did.
