Kyle Kuzma and Danny Green would likely be included in the package.

If we end up with Derozan somehow, Gallo or another wing shooter with the MLE is a must...

don't need another non-shooting wing player. DeRozen's game is iso, unless he fills the role as the 6th man, i don't see much benefit he's gonna bring playing in the same lineup as AD and LBJ.

I don’t like that trade tbh. We need spacing with Lebron and AD.

Disagree with this

The same could’ve been said about rondo who traditionally needs the ball in his hands

It’s not that simple. Lebron wants the ball out of his hands. Derozan while not close to my favorite option would be that

He’s also an incredibly efficient scorer inside the arc

Not necessarily. We need 2 guys that can shoot since lebron and AD both have to be guarded at the arc

You’re replacing Dwight/McGee with derozan in terms of not shooting

Ideally with ibaka or baynes

Who would have the incentive to leak this?

I'll be for DeRozan and just have to hope talent wins out over fit, as the spacing would be questionable. However, DeRozan becomes that 3rd star/scorer and Lakers will still have max cap space for 2021. Lakers get that secondary ball-handler that can take pressure off of LeBron for creating for everyone and being the only perimeter player that can get his own shot. DeRozan isn't a shooter and not much of a defender, but think Vogel can coach around his defense. Lakers have always been about going after star players and feel like Lakers even though they just won a title, I'm not confident they would be able to repeat with a similar roster and don't mind retooling for a legit 3rd guy. If deal would happen, just be prepared for a lot of why did the Lakers trade Kuzma or Lakers had that 3rd scorer that they traded for an aging SG. Spurs wanted to draft Kuzma and Pop loves him, so wouldn't be surprised you see Kuzma back to putting up a ton of points like his first 2 years.

The lakers

I’d assume they’re more active than the Spurs so this may be thing if we have other deals on the table

Agreed, but DD is elite in the midrange and big enough to post up as well. Really good passer too (avg 5.6apg last 3 reg seasons). Moves well without the ball too.

Elite midrange shooters are valuable. For example, the Heat rode Jimmy Butler's midrange game to the Finals. DD would be doing it as a 3rd option, where he would thrive.

Doubt Pop does it but he should.

If teams leave DeMar wide open to double AD or Bron that means you are giving a wide open lane to one of the better finishers and foul drawers in the league.

Not every double team has to result in a three point attempt.

I doubt Kevin O'Connor has connections to the Lakers.

Could do worse, but boy, DD is an indifferent defender along with the aforementioned shooting issues. His deal is up in 2021.

Any Spurs/Lakers trade talk is likely #smokescreen anyways. They will remain petty as long as pop is there imo.

Maybe the Spurs want to trade DD and they are leaking this Lakers trade as smoke to get the best deal.

Haven't watched Derozan as much in recent years.

1. Does Derozan still have the ability to attack the basket?
2 Is he still an 18 foot jumper max distance guy?

I can see the interest expiring contract and a legit 20+ ppg scorer who can get to the line and take the offensive burden off from

I wouldn't mind it as long as we add shooting elsewhere. Derozan would be a reliable 3rd scorer.

Nearly 6apg last 3 years.

Still a 22ppg scorer. Rebounding up.

I'm positive with LBJ/AD setting the tone, he will give more effort on defense b/c he's not needed to be a #1/#2 option on offense.

He's on an expiring deal too.

I'm down with it if it happens. We aren't extending Kuz, and Green is an expiring deal and looked like he was about to blow a tire.

This is another case of trade for the best player. DD is clearly the best in this scenario. Also, he's a former all star that will come back home hungry to win a chip. His midrange is tops in the nba ala Leonard. He will take the load off lebron as the second ball handler. It makes sense.

He just doesn't shoot threes. Not that he doesn't make them, he doesn't take them. As he gets older, he can work on that like Rondo/Kidd.

The question is would you prefer DD or Rose for that same package?

I'm also concerned that:

1. Green's wheels will fall off this upcoming year. Had an achilles concern during the Bubble apparently.

2. Kuz isn't going to be extended. So we will have to deal with passive/aggressive social media stuff all year. Are we really going to extend Kuz next year?
