I think he loves LA and will return if other offers are not much better than TP MLE which Lakers can offer. If he plays well in playoffs/play in, he will likely get bigger offers than MLE from other teams.

He literally can’t get more. Please refer to the cap thread by vasashi. 12 mil is the most ANY team can pay him next season and 13 mil the following. Poison pills contracts can come in after year 3 only

I am talking about DS not AR. Why can't any team with cap space offer DS 15 M for example? He's unrestricted free agent.

Nobody wanted him for 2 years now, and I am not sure why teams would be interested in him all of a sudden.

Well, there is a thing called THIS SEASON, and Schroder is a better player now, than he was for the past two years.

Better player for the LAKERS, he put up slightly better numbers in 2021 with us and he could only fetch a MMLE the year following. He is not a hot commodity nowadays with his lack of 3 point shooting.

There’s context to certain numbers though. Brook Lopez when he came to the Bucks on a vet min contract years ago, didn’t post better numbers than he did in his 1 year stint on the Lakers. In fact, it was almost worse across the board. But there was context to his numbers. He made the TEAM better than ever, and his impact was obvious. Especially in a clearly defined role. That’s how after that season, he then got the bag.

Same thing with Schroder. Numbers might be only as good as his 2021 stint, but the impact difference between 2021, and 2023 is night and day. His role especially, is different. And everybody sees that.

Dennis had a better impact and season basketball wise his 1st time with the Lakers and he got MLE

Completely and utterly disagree. Schroder has never been this impactful of a defender in his entire career, and not been a liability unlike 2021 on several occasions. Especially game 5 against the Suns.

Not the end all be all but according to: STATMUSE LINK

His defense rating hasn't been particularly great this year. From what I can tell, I'm not sure you'll find a metric that demonstrates this year being a significant outlier from the rest. I think it's easier to perceive him in a better light this year considering the more limited expectations as well as the contract. It also doesn't hurt that Westbrook was the whipping boy by default for so long this year and that Beasley has seemingly inherited that title.

He gives you effort on defense, but he is undersized. He'll pick up guys full court, make them work. But I don't think he's a particularly effective defender other than applying pressure.

Defensive rating though is something you have to take with the context of the rest of the team. He's middle of the pack in Defensive Rating on the team. He's third in offensive rating though, behind DLO and Lebron.

Net Rating factors in both. He's currently fifth on the team behind DLO, AD, Lebron, and Reaves with a +2.6 per 100 possessions. Reaves is at +2.8 and Lebron/AD are at +3.6. He has made a positive impact this season.

That having been said, on/off ratings tend to be slanted by who you are playing with. They should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Lakers won't have cap space, or his bird rights. The best they can really is offer their exception. At that price he's a bargain if he takes it.

He seemed like he was everywhere. What a great game he had tonight.

Plus, you can always rely on him to make his free throws in the clutch. Who else on this team can you say that about? What a player he is.

Wonderful game today

Give him plenty of love and praise and give him the largest exception we have. We will not sign a guy with an exception better than Dennis. We must keep him here.

For the vet minimum he has been a bargain. Hopefully he will get paid this summer whether it's with the Lakers or another team.

I love that Dennis can be that random guy who takes over a game or two in the playoffs when things are not going well. That makes all the difference.

Lakers. Don’t cheap out Jeanie. No reason not to pay him what he’s due.

We don't have his bird rights so he's very likely gone regardless imo.. I'd love to have him back though if he's willing to take whatever we have to offer him.

Sign him for the mid level then hope he stays on with early bird rights.

That would be the only way I see him staying.

What’s going on with Dennis? Neck? Achilles? He’s had a good season. Get strong Dennis! Please do not disappear, the team needs you!

With achilles pain I think fans should prepare themselves for Dennis to miss the next couple of weeks, and then if he comes back sooner it's a pleasant surprise (Could be longer. Achilles pain is vague, if it's achilles tendonitis it could be months)

In his post game interview, AD casually mentioned the importance of the team getting rest, and getting Dennis back in the lineup. I know AD is not a physician, but to me, his comment made it sound like he could be back on Tuesday or for Game 1 of the Grizz series.

We def need Schro back for obvious reasons;
Fingers crossed because "Achilles pain" could be something a little more serious than it sounds. Hoping for the best though.

How long did they hold out Anthony when he had achillies soreness? I’d shut him down for the post-season. He doesn’t have a contract. It would be career suicide to risk it all.

FWIW I actually watched his most recent one - the one he recorded when we played the Suns.

- He mentioned his neck & achilles but it seemed like the neck was the issue he was more focused on in the video.

- In regards to the Achilles, he made it seem like he would have been fine to come back for Sunday so I do expect him to play in the play-in. I'd be surprised based upon his demeanor if he sat it out.

- Pretty cool - he met up with Lakers fans after the Suns game and signed all their autographs and took pictures on his own accord.
