Dude deserves all the flowers…but you still have to acknowledge the gravity he’s allowed to play around. Without teams placing most of their attention/energy on Bron & AD, Reaves wouldn’t have that type if Soave and freedom to operate from. Same goes for Rui…they coming up big during key moments, but could they consistently do so as “the” guy on other gravity deprived teams?

Exactly. A lot of people want Reaves to take on Bron's role on offense, but if he was ready to take 20 shots a game, he'd be taking 20 shots a game. And it's not like I want to put a ceiling on him or anything, because I still think he can level up with more experience. Point is that right here, right now...it's not so simple as translating a certain efficiency on lower volume in a supporting role to higher volume in a lead role.

I am so amazed about the current narrative about Austin. Other fans and commentators are telling all the time Lakers need to pay him lots of money. I dont see what is the problem. Suddenly paying good player is the problem!?
I know they are jealous he will remain Laker but if GSW or Knicks are paying him it would be told what a fantastic job. When Lakers will pay him its lots of money. Pathetic.
Guy is legit 3 or even 2nd option. I don't see a single reason why Lakers should not be paying him that money. He deserves it and Lakers will not find any other player on FA market like Austin. So keep Austin and piss on everyone next season please. I want to see their stupid faces wondering how Lakers found undrafted fantastic player.
And yes I am sure after receiving the contract he will level up his game even more. He seems that kind of person, grateful and humble and also extremely hard working.

If Austin Reaves was on any other team but the Lakers it would be LINSANITY 2.0

The jealousy of our team is sooooo real.

I agree with that. Reaves isn’t a first option. He’s a great 3rd.

But credit AR for being smart to understand that take advantage of it.

Look at DLO, why can't he do that if he's got Bron, AD and AR in front of him?

We'll find out tonight. Lebron just has to play decoy.

Now explain players like DLO, Schroder, etc who can’t take that same advantage and play just as well?

This may come as a shocker, but maybe Reaves is actually, just THAT good?

Yeah, gravity is important but then why didn't every 40% shooter from Wayne Ellington to Kendrick Nunn not flourish with the AD/LBJ gravity?

Reaves is just good.

At first we thought it was just a quarter of a season, and then it was a half season... then we thought it was a regular season thing... and now it's translated to success against the best teams in the league in the playoffs.

If we gave him more shots he'd be scoring 25-30 a game in the playoffs.

Nah, the shocker was your most recent thread creation. Haha

https://www.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=194112

What comes as no shock is the divisive nature in pitting players against each other due to salary. Reaves at 25m over 2 years is a bargain…but at 75m+ over 2yrs, is that “star” type pay really worth building around or does that tyke of deal poison our books to build around?

Our inept FO continues to do that among the fan base due to their lack of planning.

I’ve been liking Reaves and I’ve said it was terrible planning on our part to give this dude a 2yr deal. Due to our lack of planning, we created the THT vs AC ultimatum, when it really never had to be one. When salaries come into play, 21y/o THT at 10m isn’t worth it and definitely ain’t worth picking over AC…meanwhile other teams have their 2nd rounders on rookie min deals and are enjoining that player a year longer on a bargain deal.

Austin is going to look at the max we could offer him over the next 2yrs coming a bit under 25m total…meanwhile his golfing buddy, the ice to his vanilla, is aiming to get that much in just 1 year as his starting pay.

Ultimatum time: fans of each player start attacking, completely ignoring the dudes responsible for putting us in that pickle.

So Austin is gonna go get that bag and that bag can pay him as much as 75m+ over a 2 year span….that kicking in right about the time (2025/26 season) when punitive taxes apply to teams just 10m over the tax threshold.

But why worry when there’s a tax spike coming with the new TV deal, right? Wrong…the new CBA ain’t going to observe a 1yr spike again. They’ll smooth out the cap increases at 10% at the very most for each year heading into 2025. But what’s to say they will continue to increase at the full 10%. Let’s say it increases at the current projected rate of 8.4%, then Reaves’s poison pill deal takes up almost 1/4 the cap at that time….which is roughly the same amount of cap DLo takes up right now with his expiring 25% max deal. And boy is the fan base ready to get rid of that dude if that amount of cap is used to retain DLo again with.

Lack of planning is what led to the fans saying Russ ruined the team, when in actuality the margins were addressed with 1yr vet min stopgaps. Lack of planning is not getting a longterm center so that when AD falls, the fans are quick to point at how dude is soft. Lack of planning is having a narrative that 38y/o LeGM is going to go get some star help, but still be forced to be relied on for 40mins+ per.

So Reaves could end up being the real deal even if he is “the” guy, but the way we planned out things, it looks like he might get paid as one of “the” guys and if he ends up faltering a bit at that time and if his contract starts getting in the way of other potential stars we could add/retain on our books, then the fans ain’t going to see him the same way…will they?

That’s cute. It’s better than your crap post history of worthless walls of text that say nothing.

This is what happens when you post irrelevant information, makes the rest of your post garbage with no one caring.

Don’t have to dig that far with you. Your wall of nothing information text is all over the place. Even your snide comment here is a drastic improvement to your post quality. I actually like it.

what? Can you rephrase that?...but the man delivered solid games after solid games...Needs to add strength to hide some of his defensive issues.
