We won’t have Thomas Bryant’s bird rights after this season. So no guarantees we will be able to even bring him back.
And again, the fit for Mo Bamba here is just WAY too good to past up. |
What's your 3 favorite things about Bamba's game? |
I love his name. That’s pretty much it |

Nawlins ability to flex to our 2025 1st instead of our 2024 1st, puts conditions in our ability to trade our 2026 1st.
But we can have a conditional trade setup where our 2026, ‘28 & ‘30 1sts can all be put up for sale after June 30th (when our ‘30 gets unlocked to trade). The condition wound be that if the Pels pick our ‘24, those 3 1sts get conveyed (protections withstanding).
However if the Pels pick our ‘25 1st then either ‘27 & ‘29 or ‘28 & ‘30 get dealt along with a ‘26 swap and any other 1 swap from our ‘27-30 1sts that are not part of the trade.
That all gets decided 2024 draft night. If Pels go with that pick, Toronto gets 26, 28, 30 (protections withstanding). If they decide to go with ‘25, then Toronto gets 2FRPS (protections withstanding + 2 pick swaps of the 1sts remaining). _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Pacers ain’t trading Turner to the Lakers for 1 frp. They would ask for 2. |
3 years on trade block and haven't received 1 pick but pacers will get 2 for 30odd games |

Age ain’t nothing but a number, but in this case it’s everything!
Also McGee is a known asthmatic. He’s good for a high motor but in short bursts.
Plus another number to consider is 39% on nearly 3 attempts from the arc.
Bamba could help open up the paint for AD to operate from the block. Them other dudes couldn’t do that for us in the playoffs when we had to run more half court sets.
I want a player like Myles 1st, but Mo is a great contingency if Indy doesn’t want to play ball. |
Except is not optimal to have a big slow Center to space the flloor for AD because at the other end he's gonna get killed on switches. that's why a guy like Markief was so valuable, and hopefully Rui can star in that role. |
The reason McGee or Dwight couldn’t stay on the floor during the postseason is cause the Lakers couldn’t run an offense where those dudes were not scoring threats and clogging the lanes. On the defensive end, they were able to play since AD was playing the 4, but on the offensive side, AD was playing the 5 role and the paint got jammed up because of it.
With center options that have the ability to stretch the floor in offense, AD could still play the 5 role from the block in offense and then go down to the other end and be a beast on the perimeter on defense.
That’s what this whole thought process is all about. Getting a defensive center that still allows AD to maneuver offensively on the other end.
Quote: |
“It was a little different because I was able to roam a lot. I was playing the 4 then, JaVale was playing the 5 and Dwight [Howard] was playing the 5, so guarding the perimeter and knowing I got them guys behind me or weak-side helps, getting blocks on the weak side. Now when I’m at the 5, I’m the one in action – pick-and-rolls, one guarding the post, things like that. We were flying around, we were really good defensively. We’re really good defensively this year as well. I think roles just changed a little bit as far as me as far as positions. In ’19-20 I was a roamer where I can be on whoever the 4 is and roam around and help protect everyone. It’s tough for me to do that when I’m guarding the 5.”
|
|
You’re completely misremembering how bad those guys were in the playoffs. Javale was absolutely atrocious, but then again, he was like that all season. Dwight had that one good game against Joker which everyone made a big deal about and then got roasted alive right after until Vogue finally stopped putting him out there which continued right through the Finals.
That quote from AD is a perfect example of why you should never let players be the coach/gm. Our best defense when it mattered most was EASILY with him at the 5 because it allowed them to switch everything. |

AD can't play 48 minutes. Specially heavy minutes at C....
Myles would be a nice big to have to take some of that stress away and also a huge help while AD sits with out dropping much defensively. |

Honestly, I don't think OG is worth 3 FRPS
But 2 FRPS and 2 swaps? Gotta think about it. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!! |

Seems like there's a lot of potential upgrades out there. Hope we can make a sensible deal for one or two of them. I like our chances this year if we do. |

I know we started off a lot worse this year, but sometimes this team feels like the 2008 squad to me. Even similar with the injury issues (Bynum and AD). That year getting Pau boosted us to a contender and getting Ariza helped too. Wonder if Rui + whoever else Rob can get can have a similar impact. |

Mo Bamba/Harris/RJ would be fantastic for this team! Pat/Lonnie/DJ/JTA seems to work money wise also! Wonder how many picks we would need to attach though?
Dennis/Russ/RJ
Harris/Reaves/TBJ
LeBron/Rui/Christie
AD/Weyen
Bamba/TB
Would give us two open roster spot also |

Let’s get Josh Hart back in a Lakers uniform, he should never wear that Blazers uniform and all that bad culture they have over there

OG has great potential, but I truly believe Rui can be solid.
Not as high a ceiling as OG but definitely a contributor.
That being the case, I would rather use the 1st round picks to try and get Trent and Vleet.
Vleet, Trent, and Rui would essentially be our free agent shopping but now and it would allow us to have the non-taxpayer MLE. |

Rui
Reaves
Bamba
Turner
Westbrook
These are the bird/cap options right? Any other trade aim with birds? |

They won’t get two from others teams. They just won’t give Turner up to the Lakers for 1. Lakers spite tax is huge with the Pacers and Spurs. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

Ok I’m not sure if this is legal or would be frowned upon by the league but the trade is in two separate transactions. 26 and 28 or 27 and 29 plus filler goes to Toronto for OG. On draft night after the lakers pick it’s sent to Toronto for Otto Porter. Is this legal within the rules

Such a nebulous statement though.
Team A: Will you trade OG for one FRP?
Toronto: No
Team B: Will you trade OG for two FRPs?
Toronto: No
"Insider": Toronto has spoken to teams about OG. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |
