This big lead is a combination of blazing hot shooting by the Mavs, spearheaded by Doncic carving up our defense. The other part is the Lakers being forced to play halfcourt offense, which is a well known weakness or ours. Mavs aren't missing, or turning over the ball, so it slows the game down. Unfortunate.

Lakers giving Russ the ball up top (mistake, have to do it in motion), and Kidd giving him space to shoot (smart). Russ turning the shot down, which is breaking the spacing.

unfortunately without a good defense, we're going to be forced to play in the halfcourt by good teams, especially if we ever crawl into the playoffs. it's not like 2020 when we forced teams into transition with high frequency

I feel like Russ doesn't set up 3 point shooters well unless they're in the corners in transition. In the halfcourt, he's always making the pass to the big, even if they're at a disadvantage to score. |
