Russ was not playing to win.

Lebron has a break away .. into the front row
Reeves has a break away … into the scorers table
AD rolls and he bounced it off AD feet
AD goes up for a lob and Russ throws it short into a thunder player
AD has a seal under the bucket and Russ pulls up for three in the first
AD switches out to SGA when Russ has him, and Russ rebound watches and doesn’t recover to Williams so AD tries to contest that
Musicala picks Russ and Bryant steps up, Muscala pops out and Russ watches and doesn’t contest.
Russ cherry picks and they get 3’d up

Every step they try to make when it comes to a run, he killed their momentum on both ends. And as a big what is the point for AD or Bryant to help you in the pick and roll when you don’t get back in front the guard or contest his shooter in place switches. You just make the bigs look bad because you rather rebound watch

Russ is like dying by 1000 cuts night in and out on both ends. And the making everyone play small to get him his minutes adds to the load for an AD or Bron

Vogel was 1000 times the coach.

We counted 4 back cuts against Walker live today. I don't think I've seen a player get back cut that much that I've noticed live.

POA defense across the board was poor. Rim protection was a step late constantly.

OKC had some good shoot making but LA's defense was bad today.

I don't want Russ on the team...I think overall he is a detriment to the team...but your take is the truth. Russ plays hard trying to win. it is up to the coaching staff to use him in a way that benefits the team. Still...trade Russ for Turner and Heild.

I think that trade is off the table now, but move him or not is another discussion.
He does play hard compare to our other players not named lebron especially given all the rumors. This is how bad our team is. I said in the FA thread that our team looked very disinterested since AD came back, even less urgency than when he was out. TB and Wenyen brought their heart, maybe AD is still trying to figuring things out

This team us better than this. I start with the James and Davis act. No effort on defense. None. Not just tonight. Been that way for a long time. Ham fault? Last year with a defensive master coach they were awful. One if the worst. Different year different coach same story. These two know how to play defense and how to rebound and how to lead. Ya got no time left to F around guys.

Now Ham's offensive game plans are a mess. Not much hope there.Trades going to help? At this point if the J & D show doesn't wanted it then I put no stock in that. And just when it seemed they would cancel the draft swap they go on a fall on their asses.

wtf is that all about

That's who he is.. Much like Odom was (AD is a much better player obviously but the attitudes feel similar).. They can look like the best player on the floor for an entire game or even stretches of games but at any time they can also look completely lost and uninterested while looking like a mediocre role player at best. You just have to accept that at this point because the few times he starts beasting and looking at all consistent he'll get injured and come back looking like he was tonight. Great second option on a really good team but that's his ceiling imo especially going forward as his prime window is def. closing.

We got a ton of false hope during the Covid run as he got all that rest and when he came back he was on absolute fire we haven't seen him come close to since especially sustaining it.

Russ is just straight trash, he might not be the entire problem (kind of an obvious point in a team sport) but he sure as hell finds ways to just shoot this team in the foot consistently with awful shots and decisions at the worst times while being Fisher esque with layups. I know i'll be legitimately celebrating the day when he no longer is a Laker...

Russ is literally the reason why Ham keeps trotting out these dumb ass guard lineups that lose every time.

its all to appease Russ ego.

Vogel had to do it also.

WTF happen to AD???

He got 9 shots. Dennis got 9 with 3 turnovers, Russ got 19 with 6 turnovers. He also got played less minutes than Dennis.

At a point in the second I thought of something Hakeem once said .. he would take 3 second calls on purpose if the ball didn’t come in the post.

And there was a stretch where it was AD and all guards and he had post position at the goal 4 straight trips and didn’t even get a touch where you could say f it, get the 3 seconds. He is not Giannis who handles the ball, he’s reliant on them giving him the ball

Does AD look engaged to you? He was wondering around the perimeter all night. There were 2 balls in the 4th and he could’ve went for it and didn’t bother

It’s your (not your) but the guard job and coach job to engage an actual big. You don’t engage AD by trotting 3 points out next to him with Troy at 4 and say cover for them all on defense and we will not give you shots even for the covering.

In the words of Shaq “the big dog won’t guard the yard if he won’t get fed”

It’s a catch 22. He’s not KD or Giannis so he’s not going to just bring it up and get his over and over. The argument you could make is AD go get it off the glass, and even then he should ask you why. The team was fine playing through him, and since she’s been back, he’s went out his way to not step on toes, but his attempts and touches are not like they were before he went out.

Wow, you think AD being this disinterested is because of our guards? Did he see him ask for the ball in the post at all? I saw bron did some, and obviously our starting PGs have no really passing ability, but AD didn’t even try hard to get position.

SVG pointed out twice in the game, AD has position and he’s under the goal in switches and all they did was swing it around and shoot. On the other end because they are all smaller than everyone, people expect AD to switch out and stop penetration, protect the rim, get back to his guy and be the fire blanket.

We need smarter guard play on both ends. You can’t say with a straight face Rondo would not have given AD the ball. I’m not mad at Bron for going for the record but it’s the other guards job to feed the big guy even when Bron has it going, but they didn’t at all.

I don’t think Ad have anything to do with our horrible defense. I will just say Ad is sitting on the perimeter way more than he should’ve, not even trying hard in rebounds, rui and bron did more post ups than he did. It just can’t happen no matter how bad our guards are

Tonight was the least amount of shots AD got since the Denver game where he got hurt.

If you exclude that game this is the only game in the season where AD got less than double digit shots … that can’t happen if he’s your big and you’re a guard. Especially can’t happen when he’s been averaging 20 shots a night (19.8) since his return

Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT
@3cbPerformance
#Lakers had 2 key games against teams near them in the standings…& gave 2 of their worst effort & detail level games of the season. The cherry on top - Coach Ham goes with the same rotation that gave up 70 in the 2nd half vs NOP and guess what? OKC drops 76 in the 1st half. 🚮

Anthony Davis is not happy in this game. He is not active. ANd basically silent.

Because the Lakers are still paying him 😂

If you gave Frank this team with this youth, their scoring would be down but their defense would be very different

Critical game in the standings and they allow 133 pts and get embarrassed at home.

At least they should be embarrassed. Guessing the celebration will last long into the night.
