Considering Kyrie would have cost an additional first rounder, plus Reaves and Christie, which trade was/is better? Or should we have just held onto Westbrook and our pick?

For what little we gave up, I believe the Russell trade was definitely a better haul for the lakers than if we had to give up 2 picks to get Kyrie. It gives them more depth with Vanderbilt, Beasley and Dlo. I believe the pick we gave up also has light protection on it.

What’s in it for the Wolves?

This is a MUCH MUCH better trade. Thank god Irving trade fell through. Nets were looking to fleece us with 2 FRPs.

This trade gives us more than just DLO, gives us more depth, shooting, wing. And only 1 FRP. Not to mention DLO can play off ball with Bron and AD.

And less drama with DLO, younger. And I’m a Irving fan as far as being a basketball player, but this trade is much much better

I'm happy with three reliable pieces over a polarizing talent that pissed off half of the community.

Whichever trade also gets us an athletic, defensive forward with legit size like Vanderbilt.

They weren’t going to keep Dlo and got something for him. Conley has had success with Gobert

I think they were better off keeping the '29 pick, protecting the '27, and adding 3 guys instead of just 1.

D’Angelo by far. DLO is a better person and I wish nothing but success for him. Especially now.

(bleep) Kyrie Irving and his antisemitic ass. I hope he gets blackballed from the league after this season (even though I know it won’t happen). He is toxic and has been a disaster to every team he goes to. It will be the same in Dallas.

Ironically, I think this is the package that might eventually get Kyrie to LA via S&T.

I'm fine with the deal they made today.

Most never wanted Kyrie, at least those wise enough to look past just the basketball skills. No thanks.
Deal today, if we can get Ham to coach better, will be better in the long run.

Yeah, with us likely having to agree to give Kyrie a Max deal on top of it all as well was a hard pass.. I was down with the trade if we could get a decent rotation guy with Kyrie for just a single first but the proposed leaked offer by the Nets was hilariously awful and I give Rob props for shutting that down real quick and moving on to new potential deals. That's not even mentioning Kyrie being in the LA market for multiple years which was just unnecessary drama waiting to happen.

The trade today landed us three legitimate rotation players while protecting only 1 first rounder and not giving up any young players of real value. Pretty much a no brainer.. IMO this trade is already rock solid and if it actually pans out on the floor it can easily turn into a fleecing.

We suddenly have a solid looking core of players going into the future now and hopefully can bring most of them back to have some continuity for the first time in awhile.
