I keep circling back to the depth of firepower that the Lakers now possess in my estimation of how these last 23 games will go.

All season long, the Lakers have ostensibly needed 30-point outings from LeBron and/or AD to survive. On some occasions, Russ would give the Lakers 20+ (14 instances). Outside of those three and Dennis (8)/Austin (4)/Lonnie (6) on the rare occasion, the Lakers didn't have any scoring punch.

Now? D'Angelo can explode for 25-30 points. He's had 20+ in 25 games this season. Beasley can also explode and give the Lakers a 20-point night (7 games this season).

Why is this important? The Lakers have a much wider margin of error in my view. I feel that the depth of firepower will give the Lakers a few more Ws that they would have otherwise lost. Those games where Beasley hits six 3s or D'Angelo goes off. And the Lakers still have Dennis and Austin in the rotation, but they have less pressure and more freedom to contribute. I think they'll also have those surprise big nights, but now as the #5 or #6 guys instead of being expected to be the #3 or #4 guy.

Forgot to add Rui to this mix. He's had five 20+ point games this season, including two 30-point outings.

I really think the Lakers newfound firepower is underrated. Again, it significantly widens the margin of error. Instead of being hyper-reliant on LeBron and AD needing to each go off for 25+ for the Lakers to have a chance (and the rare third or fourth guy to pop), the Lakers now have 5 guys outside of LeBron and AD who can all go off on a given night and steal a win. That's going to be crucial in the Lakers mission to finish 15-8 or better.

This became seemingly prescient much quicker than I anticipated. We’ll see how it holds up. But tonight LeBron and AD were horrific offensively, but Beasley went off for 25 points on 7 for 11 from three and the Lakers got their second straight blowout.

I don’t think warriors can beat us next game, they won’t have curry and it will be played in LA. I am fairly confident with all remaining home games

Assuming Ham will continue his good rotation like in the 2nd half of the pelicans game I think this can be done. Also assuming Bron and AD will be healthy.

1-0

3-1 with the New guys

May have taken it for granted that we'd have a motivated Lebron...didn't look like it much of the night and certainly not after the game...hopefully it's just a passing thing and we'll have a motivated Bron from here on out.

Could be right...either way I hope the math works out...I figured Minny downgraded their roster so we get the sweep whereas OKC remained the same so split predicted. There's some leeway built in like a split predicted with NY/Clips could instead be a sweep or double loss whereas the Lakers have played the Griz well so that could be a sweep instead of a split and of course since Memphis is #2 west it could be a double loss. Could also get swept by Dallas or Phoenix and could sweep Phoenix or Dallas instead of splitting the 4 games...hopefully it all evens out so that at least the 17-6 record is attained or possibly even better.

I know its a tough task, but a win in their next 2 games vs Mavs and Grizz will put them in a good position, especially that their next 3 games after that are against weaker teams.

the bottomline, Lakers need to beat the teams they are suppose to beat, and hope that they get a split against tougher teams. A loss against those weaker teams will be a big blow to their standings, especially against teams in the 7th to 13th spot.

If they're constantly worrying about everything that could go wrong after a solid win rather than just enjoying a win?

Maybe a little.🤣

We didn’t and shouldn’t need him for a stephless and wiggless gsw team. We should smash the next 4 games.

I said it before that his play/availability has been baffling since he broke the scoring record with a flourish.

I was half joking when I wondered aloud if he was tanking so that Rob would have to trade for Kyrie.

The more he plays like this, the more I wonder.

How can he do a one hand monster dunk one minute and look like he can barely move the next?

The Windhorst rumors make me wonder as well.

Maybe Rob created a team so good, that even LBJ tanking can't slow it down.

OR maybe this is completely unfair and Bron is just finally getting old.

But it's baffling how he was averaging 30 points a game and now he and AD are playing worse while everyone else is playing better.

Hopefully they are just conserving energy... but it is strange.
