The Lakers are favored by 2.5 points.

538 gives the Lakers a 54% chance of winning.

    MUST WIN!!
It's going to be a challenge but I expect AD & LBJ to bring it!
The energy level will be high and our role players will play much better at home too.

basically a toss up.
if we defend the home court, we will win the series. we can lose by 60 to the warriors in game 5 and it wouldn't matter. can't let last game get into their heads.

Curry should be hunted and isolated on defense. He's a really weak on the ball defender. It will also cause him to exert more energy which could impact his offense.

Energy, desire, and high level communication wins the series for the Lakers…very possible but gotta want to for entire 48 against Warriors.

i have a strong suspicion we are going to start in drop coverage trusting Vando to chase around the screen. Its Bud's specialty and allows us to try to maintain paint protection from AD. If Curry burns us a couple times, I can see the call made to switch everything. Also if we plan on switching everything from the start, we might as well start Rui

Fortunately Vando is made of Play Doh and he's apparently fine. He's not listed on the Injury Report

The Lakers’ injury report for Game 3:

AD & LBJ - Probable

Mo - Questionable

Then the on-ball defender needs chase Steph and/or Thompson like a mutha to ensure he doesn't get a good look at a 3.

To me, it is quite simple. We need to score every possession starting with AD. Every time we miss, it becomes a transition basket with a wide open 3s. We need to score or get a foul, this will stop Warriors from running. Game 2, Lakers wasn't getting the whistle and the guys keeps missing shot. If we can do that, we would win this series. There were so many 4-5 points swing because we were bricking our shots. LBJ should go to the post and dominate. If Lakers continue to shoot badly then Warriors would win this easily probably 4-2.

We should live with drop if we are going to be facing Steph handling the ball. There’s no smart way to trap him continually. I mean you can say the warriors lost a 3-1 lead with him being trapped but it ignores Harrison Barnes shot 35% from the field open the last 3 games and they just left him and said beat us, and he sucked.

Also you can’t play AD that many minutes especially if you are going to run traps. He played 33.5 of 36 mins because Ham saw the l lakers get left behind in the 2 mins he sat in the first half. It’s just too much traveling to not allow him 8-10 mins of rest against this team because Klay and Steph move too damn much.

If Steph goes 10-20 versus drop with all contests, live with it and just keep Klay out the game. Honestly keep Klay out the game may be their actual best way to win.

The line went up a .5 point. The Lakers are now favored by 3.

The thread title says the game is at 6pm. That's not correct. The game is at 5:30pm. Please change!

The Lakers have won 9 straight playoff games when tied 1-1, the longest such streak in NBA history.

Personally, I think Lakers should just switch on screens. Memphis did a very good doing this against GSW last year that really limited their efficiency. They are playing against a hot and confident team so you want to make sure you put a hand in their faces and force Curry to make up pull ups over length (AD). The key to this defense I believe is mobility (which we have in spades) since switching on size will rarely hurt you against GSW. Plus the defensive reads will be much more simpler for defenders, which is key in a series where you have little time to prep each game and defensive communication is much simpler.

Game 2 defensive plan was a pure cluster (bleep) and is everything wrong against this GSW team and if we try to blitz and heavily hedge on screens again leaving 4 vs 3 (doing a piss poor job of it too I may add), I will be on here typing furiously that HAM really needs to be fired as the idiot he is. The only two acceptable options are drop and switch.

The ultimate key to winning this series is whether we can make it harder to score on us than it is for us to score on them and this is why i prefer switch to drop on the pick and roll. Drop is better tailored for our personnel but it is a dangerous scheme where you are just hoping Curry misses very makeable shots for him and a couple of these high pick and rolls and it can destroy the psyche and morale of our team. Memphis forced GSW to either shoot over defenders or try to take an immobile big like Adams off the dribble. One thing we have going is at least all of our guys playing PF and C are mobile

People are going off on AD's scoring. Thats fine but what I DONT want to see at all is a lot of AD iso posting up against Draymond. Some people brought this up......these people have not seen this matchup enough. The short answer is NO. I want AD to keep shooting his short floaters on the run like he did in Games 1 and 2 and then go to his mid range to open some things up as well as be more aggressive with offensive rebounding - which he did not do in Game 2. The guards needs to run some pick and rolls for AD but need to be careful - DO NOT THREAD THE NEEDLE. Make the safe pass if its there or take the shot yourself as the ballhandler. AD is not a guy we should be force-feeding especially against Draymond. He isnt Shaq who was a walking bucket. If their defense wants to key in on AD, it should leave other guys open to attack. AD needs to score opportunistically based on the defense - not force feeding him
