Pippen is at practice, he's a g-league player at best...I hope he's not on the
NBA team, it'd be a wasted h/c.

They need people to fill the summer league roster (15 max). Remember, these are NBA / training camp tryouts for the most part. He'll have to show something really special to make the squad.

Hope to hear more about the Lakers total SL roster. I’m guessing atm it’s:

Jalen Hood/Scottie Pippen Jr
Max Christie/D'Moi Hodge/Damion Baugh
Maxwell Lewis/
Cole Swider/Alex Fudge
Colin Castleton/

Would like to see us get another backup Center and forward if this is what it currently looks like.

Pippen is no longer under contract.

Driving into Vegas tonight and I just looked at the weather for the next 10 days or so. Basically looking at 110-degree highs and lows of between 75-80. It's 112 there right now as I type this. Typical, in other words.

Welp. All I know is that #29, #30 and #31 suck.

The Maxes even with their mistakes were enjoyable to watch.
Fino needs to find his rhythm.
And Cole's defense is still trash.
Castle needs to stop fouling.

I like Bruin JJJ.
As a 4 year senior he's more polished.
Fino being younger is less polished but has more upside.
JJJ will probably help their squad before Fino will help the Lakers.
But I'm OK w/ the pick. It'll take a couple of years to really know if we made a mistake.

Yeah…well kid know the game, plays it right and is an athlete. For a team that struuuuuuggled getting wings last year, it looks like we passed on one that could be part of the rotation now. Lawdy!

I think Fino needs a higher-end big to showcase his abilities better. The first game is not a big deal.

#31 poor hands, Fino gave him good passes too.

I think Christie ready for a regular rotation role, looks the most NBA ready now in this group.

When I watched the highlights of JHS... It was Jackson-Davis who looked like the standout.

But I'm trusting those who know better that this kid will amount to something.

From one game it looks like we should have taken Jaquez instead.

I get that one is a senior and the other is a freshman but damn...

JJJ did the full 4 in college, while JHS is a one and done. I understand the logic of drafting polished players, but most teams, for better or for worse, draft on potential.

JHS actually looked good in the 2nd half. He has work to do but one can see why they drafted him.

Castleton…is he nimble enough to move his feet laterally?
The other rooks, jitters
But Max, Max looked legit

I fell asleep during the second half so that's good to know.

I saw one shot he made that was a nice Spider Mitchell, THT type of shot but that was it in the first.

Max looked good... Castleton looked good... Baugh and Hodge both had some nice plays but I didn't see anything much from Fino when I was awake.

Nothing has popped so far.

Watched a replay. My thoughts:
Christie: Mostly looked good. Had a really nice between-the-legs cross over to get to the basket. Did a good job getting to the basket. Think he drained a pullup midrange. Bodes well for him mostly playing behind the 3 point line and attacking close outs if necessary (assuming his 3 ball falls). Good job fighting for boards. Hard to say in summer league but good awareness. Died a few times on screens. Felt like the Heat went "through" him, so lacking some physicality. Didn't really "dominate" despite his 17 points like you might hope for a second year but IMO he's too unselfish to be ball dominant. If his jumper is falling, he's ready to be a 3&D guarding guys like KCP, but he needs to keep adding bulk to his frame.

Lewis: Actually looked really good? Seemed to be our best PoA defender of the new guys. Similar to MaxC, he did a good job attacking closeouts, assuming his 3 ball falls. Had some nice hustle as well. Wish he got more minutes.

JHS: I think the DLO comparisons are bad. Had some nice dimes/ vision. Has some change of pace and also plays for more contact (and some head snapping flopping action). Strong off the PnR as scouted. Actually reminded me a LOT of Reaves, just without the jumper falling? Jumper looked fine mechanically but he took a lot of bad tough shots. Defensively he was significantly worse than I expected, especially at PoA. Seems to have footspeed issues and I suspect he'll end up being a 2 defensively. Pretty good frame for a one-and-done but the Heat just went "through" him as well.

Castleton: Defense looked a lot worse than I was expecting. Didn't seem super physical so again players just kind of went "through" him. Did seem fairly mobile. Besides that, nothing in particular of note besides a high foul rate. Maybe I missed defensive awareness etc but I'm honestly not sure why my impression of him defensively was so positive. Offensively he actually flashed a fair amount? He even hit a jumper. Finished at the basket. Showed some good passing feel.

They actually just got over 280 some straight days of sub 100 degree weather.

Fino looked like a 19 year old trying to impress and a little too excited in the first half.. much better in the second.

I'm hoping the defensive stuff is about his head and getting his stance right.. but he's not lightning quick, for sure.

I think there's a lot to like there in a 19 year old.. and can see him being a solid point guard in two years.. when Dlo's contract ends.

Christie? Looks ready to be the 4th guard.. and possibly better, depending on defensive assignments.. by playoffs.

Lewis? Definitely something there. If he has a work ethic, the Lakers have a nice roster piece.

Castleton... really interesting. Can he get much stronger at this point? Because his mental game on the offensive side??? Pretty impressive.
