Why not? This is one of the best signings this free agency

Can he sign agile swingmen? That's our biggest defensive hole. If you can't stick him on like a Beal/Booker or Murray type then eh. I always took him to be more of a 3/4 a la Rui but I'd love to be wrong, can't claim to be a Taurean Prince expert

Maybe no one was available esp at BAE. I'm not blaming management bc I'm not sure anyone else better was available (DDV at MLE?), I'm just saying I'm underwhelmed.

Prince is a great fit here. I think he slides in easily with the current guys and new guys. He won’t be nailed to the bench like Troy Brown or Beas. Also, people are severely underrating JHS defense and how he can guard wings.

The only signing I like so far. I hope Gabe Vincent performs well outside Miami culture.

The thing we have been lacking for years is size on the wing. We now have 3 guys (outside of Bron) who can really play: Rui, Vando, Prince

Love it. But also, does this make Rui expendable? I doubt it.

Yeah, we definitely ordered the wings lover off the market menu. And, we also added serious size in the backcourt with JHS & Lewis. JHS projects to be a 6'5 pg & Lewis projects to be a 6'7 shooting guard. That's great size.

We're building size across each position. It's the best alternative when you don't have a 7' plus dominate big like we've historically had like Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Pau, etc.,

I'm coming around on this. Vincent apparently has the toughness to guard a Murray type (smaller but physical guard). Probably Beal too? I like him for the TBJ role, but imagine he can actually get minutes in the playoffs.

Josh Richardson would have been a good get, but he wanted to come back to Miami.

“Josh Richardson had a larger offer with another team but opted for Heat reunion after talking with Spo”

Donte got 4 yr @50m. So seems like the mle. Say he wanted to sign here.
Then the Lakers still need a backup PG.
Underwhelmed is fine.
Lakers just needed to improve on the fringes. I think we did. But we'll see how it looks on court.

He looks like an old man out there. But moves well enough?
Averaged 2 transition plays a game.
About 1 ppp. 31 percentile.

Pretty much on the same level as Donte Divincenzo, who just signed a 4yr/50m deal with the Knicks. Identical stats and efficiency. Same roles. Aside from age, TP has the slight advantage because of his height and interchangeability.

And we got both Prince and Dlo for less than half the price of guys like DD and FVV.

Insane if you ask me. Cost efficient contracts that one can only dream of.

If they are happy with him, he'll get that Divicenzo money sooner or later.

Looking at tape I like that Prince doesn’t seem to just be a catch and shoot guy. Likes to attack a close out.

It would have been a great signing 2-3 years ago but I still like it. Recognizing the salary constraints, he can be a good help in games 1-82.

Physically looks like an old man? Like it would be hard to guess his age? Or physically as in moves like an old man?

He’s definitely spry. Nearly killed us with that steal in the play-in game jumping the passing lane on that inbounds to LeBron from Reaves. (Nearly killed us in general in that game.) Finishes well enough. Not an issue. Can attack off the dribble and moves well with the ball.

Regarding the move in general… I think we got lucky here. I’m not sure what our other options were if the Wolves weren’t looking to trim some salary (and possibly resign him). But we really could have gone sideways or backwards with the BAE. We upgrade here (hard not to).

Troy really should have been guarding twos and not threes. We downgrade on rebounding, unfortunately. Troy at least had a nose for the ball. But overall two-way production and two-way minutes is an upgrade. Troy could go into ghost mode and give you nothing for 20 minutes. A few buckets here or there from him would have made a huge difference on a nightly basis.

This should prevent more of those small three guard lineups. We should also be much better off for the X number of games LeBron is out or load managing.

It might just be a lateral moved. Which isn't a bad thing.
The money is pretty close too.
Prince does have a slight edge on wide open 3s and catch and shoot 3 % wise. Slight.

Prince is an inch taller with an inch longer wingspan per combine measurements.

Both these guys are actually 6'6" with no sneakers on

Doesn’t much matter, but what is your source on their height? Mine is NBA.com official combine measurements

Prince: 6’6.5” wo shoes, 6’11.5” wingspan
Brown Jr: 6’5.75” wo shoes, 6’10.25” wingspan

Wow. He's only 28. For some reason I thought he was older when he left Atlanta. I guess it was just something in my mind that didn't match reality. Cuz looking at him now, he doesn't seem old haha.

Good analysis! He should definitely be more consistent than TB.

If it’s looking like a wash I’ll take the wing with a higher 3P% on higher volume.

Exactly.

How are people missing that he's an upgrade to the wing position?

I guess people just don't watch non-Laker games; Prince is a more consistent player than TBJr and is playoff-tested.

For the BAE a good signing. Wonder if the Lakers considered Jalen McDaniels for the same price point.

With Gabe/Prince (and maybe theoretically Cam), we've added some more shooting from the perimeter. That's a good move.

I like the potential of McDaniels.. but Prince is the more developed/consistent of the two.
Reddish is the guy with upside.. we'll see if they can unlock it.
