I wish Cam could watch tape of him.. and just see how successful he could be by simplifying things and maximizing his traits and understanding of the game.

Make the *right* defensive rotation. Play *sound defense. Move the ball on offense... move to the right spots on offense.. don't try to make *star plays.

His length.. quickness and speed make him a potentially excellent perimeter weapon on defense.. if he could just not be a negative on offense.

Sigh.

He’s also not used to playing over 25 mpg.

No Cam isn't.

The problem was he got hurt during the season but RATHER than either playing him sparce minutes.. or sitting him/resting him, Ham continued to try to play him high minutes and through his injury, which has only made things worse and made further injuries happen and flare up as a result of it.

Like I said, Ham's obsession with him doesn't just hurt the team, it hurt Reddish's season/career in the process.

Or if we had a coach that would watch tape of Cam and teach him and put him in for less minutes

Lakers forward Cam Reddish has been cleared by the team to begin an on-court progression and ramp-up, and the Lakers are hopeful he’ll return after the All-Star break.

Since when is Cam a forward? Cam has always been a guard. (He plays from the wing, like a shooting guard.) Jovan Buha. Oh. .

Cam is basically a 2/3

With Vanderbilt injured, could use this guy again. Otherwise, with Vando healthy and playing well, this dude would have been a benchwarmer

I would paraphrase this in stretches. 15-18 mins off the bench would be ok but Ham plays him 25-28.

Kid is still young, he’s as athletic as Vando, we should keep and develop him

His defense is better than Prince, more athletic looking

He's very clearly not ready. He's moving at half speed. He has no lift. he has no explosiveness. His change of direction and cutting is slow. His stamina is shoddy.

He should not be getting heavy minutes nor important minutes. He needs to be brought along slowly, but instead Ham is playing him like he's still the same guy right now and he isn't. And it's costing us as a team, and is getting him hunted on defense. Murray got going in the 4th because of that.

Pretty crazy how slow he looked out there. A simple change of direction and Murray had 5 steps of separation. His brakes look completely shot right now.

Cam in general is mid. He has occasional moments where he applies good defensive pressure and hits a 3-pointer, but other than that, he makes no positive impact out there.

If/when Vando comes back, coach Ham better stick Reddish to the bench with industrial strength glue.

Maybe they made some sort of deal before the signing?

Cam Reddish should be DNP:
And not because he's a bad player. A healthy Cam Reddish actually adds a necessary defensive element to this team: a physical wing stopper to complement Vando, one who isn't quite as good or fast but is better at screen navigation.

But that's just it. He's not healthy. At all.

Cam looked slow as hell last night, it was obvious right out the gate that he wasn't up to guarding anyone, especially Jamal Murray. My jaw hit the floor when we came out of that timeout with half of the 4th to go, the game tied, and Cam was still in with D'Lo on the bench.

If Cam isn't healthy enough to provide strong wing stopper defense, he is literally useless. He's a bad shooter, a mediocre cutter, and a poor finisher when driving, even when healthy. D'Lo should have 100 percent closed that game, he was playing so well too. Defense wasn't a justification, since Cam wasn't really providing any of that, and D'Lo was our second or third best player for most of yesterday.

Cam is not ready. Ham needs to let him sit out, this is not the first time he's tried to re-insert Cam into the lineup when he clearly wasn't ready. Shut him down until he's fully healthy. Cam provides nothing when hurt. Nothing.

I don't blame Cam for his play last night. I blame Ham for bringing him back before he was ready.

Kinda weird how he immediately gets minutes after injury after Max clearly earned a place in the rotation

Rui too was on a "minutes restriction" forever but Cam goes from DNP injury to inserted straight into the starting line-up all the previous times. Now he gets way too minutes still.

It's just favoritism from Ham. Max has clearly shown he's a rotational piece but Ham doesn't see it.

They all get it.

Darvin Ham thinks Cam Reddish's defense on Maxey was "huge" for the Lakers in his return.

Looks like he's gonna play him more next game against Tyrese Haliburton..hopefully he gets his legs back fast. going to need his corner 3s.
