The $3M is in exchange for exclusive use of his services next year (whatever they turn out to be). So, he hasn't earned the money yet because he hasn't provided his services yet. |

While that is correct, governator is correct that the team gave him the promise of coming back for $3 mil. He didn’t do anything in year 1 here to change that, a vet min is his market.
