Sounds like we dodged a bullet

Per Trudell

Jarred Vanderbilt is out for the rest of the game due to right foot soreness.

Hmm. Sometimes a precursor to Achilles injuries…

Just hope it doesn’t set him back weeks. Our medical team doesn’t have the best rep…

HAM POST GAME

Per me watching Spectrum

Ham doesn't know anything they obviously don't know anything yet they haven't run any tests and he is unwilling to speculate even though Dan Wioke is trying his best to get him to say something lol

Per Trudell

Darvin Ham on Jarred Vanderbilt’s right foot injury: “Hopefully it’s not serious and he’s able to get right back to it”

VANDO X-RAY NEGATIVE

Which in this case is a good thing.

Per Woike

Lakers say x-rays were negative for Jarred Vanderbilt

Per Trudell

X-Rays were negative for Jarred Vanderbilt.

Tomorrow is a travel day, so we’ll await a further update on Saturday in New York.

That's the hope. I am sure they'll do an MRI once they get to New York.

JARRED OUT FOR A WHILE APPARENTLY

Per Woj

ESPN Sources with @McTen: Lakers F Jarred Vanderbilt is expected to miss several weeks with a right foot injury. Further evaluation is expected to see if it’s an injury that might keep him out even longer.

FURTHER ON VANDO

Ugh indeed

Per Woj

There’s more evaluation that needs to be done on right mid-foot area for Vanderbilt and possibility his absence could be more significant than several weeks, sources said. Vanderbilt’s played some of his best ball as a Laker lately and certainly is one of team’s best defenders.

NO

There have been no MRI reports or any further informed information on Jarred Vanderbilt's condition. When there is it will be posted here in your friendly neighborhood accurate non-blog boy non-rumor mill, injury report thread.

Like the thing I originally posted said they are flying to New York so at some point when they get to New York probably tomorrow I guess during the day is when they might expect further information on Vando.

LG FAM SHOULDER DOC CHIMES IN ON VANDO

Thanks for this great info shoulder doc

shoulder doc wrote:
There is a spectrum to any injury, and the midfoot has a wide range. The worst case is when the ligaments are damaged so badly that the bones shift out of place. We know this isn't the case because it would have been visible on the xrays and they would have already announced he's having surgery. Lis franc surgery when the bones are out of place and screws are placed to hold them together is career-threatening and fortunately rare for basketball players.

The best case scenario is just a simple sprain/soreness clean MRI that you get back to playing within a few weeks when you feel better. The Woj reports say it's a "significant injury" so it's not this.

I am not a foot specialist but it makes the most sense no surgery, and you just have to wait till things heal. Put him in cast/brace for 6 weeks then re-evaluate. But feet are tricky so it's not like after 6 weeks he goes back on the court. Takes equal if not longer time to start walking, then running, cutting etc. So at February 4, playoffs start in 2.5 months it could be season-ending.

The fact they haven't announced the treatment is worrisome meaning is the damage to the ligaments so severe they are considering surgery which would be terrible. Without the chart, my guess is he's going be treated without surgery and see how he responds as it doesn't make sense to go straight to surgery unless the bones are shifted.

LIL GABE UPDATE COURTESY OF OCHO

Had to go track it down and make sure this source was at least somewhat credible. 🧐 lol. Note no Lakers people have said anything as yet.

ocho wrote:
Lakers guard Gabe Vincent, who’s become included in Los Angeles’ outgoing trade conversations, sources said, appears on track to return by early March. Vincent underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee during the final days of December. He was given an 8-10 week recovery period and has so far been recuperating on schedule, sources said.

VANDO

Per Trudell

Update on Jarred Vanderbilt from the Lakers:

After consultation with multiple specialists, Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt has been diagnosed with a right mid-foot sprain. He will be re-evaluated by team doctors in approximately 3-4 weeks.

Per Woike

Darvin Ham said there’s “definitely” some hope with Jared Vanderbilt but he doesn’t want to get ahead of anything.

OK.... - DLO

Per Buha

Darvin Ham said D’Angelo Russell had a preplanned “tuneup procedure” yesterday and didn’t participate in practice today. He didn’t disclose what the procedure was. His status for tomorrow’s game vs. Denver is TBD.

https://x.com/jovanbuha/status/1755324672709976537?s=46&t=6-sxM4NpvzeWdNMn3aVCqg

Per McTen

Russell was present at the Lakers facility for practice today, however.

https://x.com/mcten/status/1755324760832303568?s=46&t=6-sxM4NpvzeWdNMn3aVCqg

Further

LAL’s injury report for Thursday’s game against the Nuggets has not yet been submitted, so we do not know D’Angelo Russell’s official status for the game yet.

Ham said that Russell’s procedure was “pre-planned.”

Russell was seen walking around the practice court with no aid.
