A more raw deal than he got here! RIDICULOUS!

If he’s willing get him back, REAL COACH who knows how to answer & held accountable!

This poor guy can't catch a break. Such disrespect for a championship coach from two different organizations.

What coach would win a championship with 35 year old post-Achilles Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Nurkic, Grayson Allen, and nobody else?

It'd be nice to have him just running the defense.

LOL why? he does not move the needle at all. Lakers didn't win the covid title because of him. they won't it because the rest of the world were still in shock of the virus, players called into a camp unprepared and LeBron and AD were 4 years younger.

I'm guessing he's going to the commentary booth. Don't have to deal with egos and prima donnas.

Eh, he's not prominent enough to be a big draw, and it seems like ESPN is trying to cut payroll after laying off Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson, etc.

Way too many reasons to not bring him back if he was offered. He has the experience & calmness of handling all situations including players & media!

Our F.O. F’d up letting him go & he should be involved in choosing roster players. Too many chiefs & not one Indian to lead team, he had a great staff & non are left!

D. Green & Pope experience but A.R & D-lo younger but not consistent. We all know A.D. has to play PF to maximize his complete game.

Pass. Needs specific players to run his offense / defense. When he doesn't have them cannot adjust.

Why do you believe Vogel would even consider returning? People need to realize that coaching the Lakers isn't what it used to be. Plus, Rob and Jeanie burned that bridge. I'm sure if Vogel was asked, he'd laugh and hang up the phone so quickly. He shouldn't have been fired in the first place. You don't dismiss a championship coach and hire a rookie coach when your stars are in win-now mode. This is basic knowledge that our inept front office lacks entirely.

My top choice would be Micah Nori. He knows defense and his players seem to want to leave it all on the floor for him. But I'm nearly certain he wouldn't be dumb enough to come here with the circus that is LeBron and Pelinka.

So I'd settle for Vogel. He has prior experience with diva LBJ and AD.

He's a pushover I can see him returning to the Lakers if they asked.

I mean if Phil Jackson can return to the Lakers which was a worse exit so can Frank Vogel

Paid for 6 years now, coached 2.
Good for him.
Kudos to Vogel for getting paid!

Micah Nori looks like a movie villain.

Defense won that title, with Bron and AD doing just enough to make up a barely adequate offense. AD was a big piece of that defense, but so was the rest of that squad, Caruso, KCP, Green in particular. LBJ carried a big load on offense but he also played on the same page with the rest of the team on defense, which was flawless. Coach Vogel played a big role in getting that team defense to one of the finest we've ever seen, and which obviously many don't appreciate. Never lost a lead in Q4 during the season or in the playoffs on the way to that title.

I'd say give Vogel a little credit. I believe he did move the needle, the Lakers were the best team in the NBA that year, Covid or not (bleep) that rhetoric.

That said, I don't expect him back, that bridge has been burned.

He was reaaaaallly poor on the offensive end. He'd have to be an assistant and focus on just D.

Has there even been an instance of someone who was once a Head Coach for a team going back as an assistant coach? Seems like it would be a huge ego blow.

Edit: Just googled it. Terry Stotts with the Bucks and Alvin Gentry with the Clippers. But those were completely different versions of those teams.

Didn't Vogel had the same line-up issues?

Small Ball?
Playing Bron at the 5?

I still get flashbacks of those Russ/Monk/Melo/Stanley/Lebron line-ups.

You can still add a real good offensive coordinator next to him, there is plenty of guys who will take that job like Mike D’Antoni for example

If the headcoach of the inagural NBA Cup title isn't safe, I guess no one is!

There's some bright minds on youtube that have great analysis and break down our team's issues. Of course, they'll never get a shot since the NBA nowadays seems to revolve around nepotism and cronyism.

stop lingering on the past. Vogel is nothing special, the defense was good on the 2020 team because players wanted to put in the effort, it was not because vogel's amazing defensive schemes. this is not football, defense in NBA is 75% effort and 25% scheme. also the fact Vogel has shown he's not a good motivator/communicator should stop teams from employ him. he had lost the two locker rooms with superstars, why would Lakers hire him back again?
