We need a elite coach, Ham is simply outclassed. We reached last year conference not because of Ham. He has done nothing to show he is elite. Lakers should be top 4 seed. Every year we struggle to make the playoff and Denver really expose Ham ability to make adjustment. 11 straight lost to Denver, can we win 1? Lakers won't complete in the next few season, there are simply too many team are younger, more althetic and well coach. Making play-in is the aim of this franchise. Nothing more.

Ideally, what HC would you want and what major changes do you think would make this roster, with all its injuries, that would produce dramatically different results

TLue is having problems with the Clips
Spoelstra’s Heat were in the Play-In
Kerr has problems with the Dubs
Mark Daigneault has the advantage of low expectations
Chris Finch wouldn’t survive in LA
Jamahl Mosley wouldn’t survive in LA
Nick Nurse has had problems in Philly
Joe Mazzulla has the inconsistent Cs
Rick Carlisle wouldn’t coach in LA
Ime Udoka’s Rockets faded
Willie Green isn’t experienced with high expectations
Jason Kidd’s Mavs just finished 5th

If Ty Lue leaves the Clippers after they lose to Dallas, let's go after him.

He coached LeBron to a chip.
He is willing and able to stand up to LeBron.
LeBron respects him.
He's a former Laker player who won rings with Shaq and Kobe, so he fulfills the nepotism of Jeanie Buss.
He's young, so maybe he could stick around for a while.

Is TLue a very good coach, yes. Does he have a multi-year contract with the Clips, yes. Will he leave before his contract is up, no

Other HC, including Vogel and Spoelstra, have coached him to a Ring
With ANY players considered a GOAT will be a partnership - see Kwahi!!!
LBJ respects and approved Ham
Ham is also a former Laker coach
Ham is younger and hungrier than TLue
TLue is having issue of consistency injury issues and production (sound familiar)
~ You haven't listed any details/thoughts/ideas on how there would be a big improvement over Ham - lol!!! Ham came from Lakers to the Bucks back to the Lakers
~ Darvin Ham has two NBA championships, one as a player which he won in 2004 with the Detroit Pistons and second as an assistant coach in the 2021 with the Milwaukee Bucks.
~ He was an assistant coach with the Lakers, Atlanta and Milwaukee before becoming a HC
~ He took the Lakers to the WCF - albeit lucky draws during last year's playoffs
~ This year he will/probably be bounced in the first round - albeit unlucky draw since he will be defeated by the eventual NBA Champions

Has Ham made mistakes, yes.
Has he shown the ability to learn and change, yes
Has he challenged LBJ/AD, yes
Has the team won games that they shouldn't have, yes (has to be the coaching)
Has the team lost games that they shouldn't have, yes (has to be the coaching)
Does he have great assistant coaches, yes
Is he the beneficiary of Rob's good trades and limited because of Rob's bad trades, yes. Rob did well transforming a bad Westbrook acquisition to get DLo, Rui and Vanderbilt)

It isn't rocket science, but Ham acts like it is.

He is a deer caught in headlights each and everytime the camera zooms in on him. While Michael Malone is on the opposing bench literally communicating each and every play out to the court, our HC is a spectator, watching the game and simply waiting for a timeout when the Lakers have reverted back to their usual selves- absolutely and completely without a clue of what to do.

It also doesn't take a genius to realize that since Vanderbilt isn't available, the Lakers should be playing Prince 30 minutes a night as he is the only "wing" we have, since they completely refused to let Christie develop this season. Reddish' ankle has kept him out forever now....but their size on the wings are absolutely killing us- particularly with 6'10 Porter Jr and 6'8 Gordon...

Hachimura (-29 now for the series) is too slow and if he isn't cutting or getting his soft jumper/3 pter going he is absolutely useless for us. And of course he isn't doing either of those things (32 minutes a game, 33% shooting, 2 three pointers, 5 points a game).

But Ham continues to want that lineup out there and Prince (only a -2) is only getting 20 minutes a night.

Who is getting all those extra minutes?

The small guards of Spencer Dinwiddie and Guy Vincent.

They are hardly ever on the court together and are a combined (-28) for the series. In 88 combined minutes on the floor they have......5 baskets among them and a couple of free throws. Add the sparkling 0 for 6 now from 3 and it boggles the mind even more why Ham thinks they need to be out there.

I GUARANTEE you if those minutes went to Prince and MAX CHRISTIE we would probably be up in this series. Why? Well, besides the obvious that they are bringing absolutely nothing to the table offensively, both Prince and MC have some height that would atleast bring some resistence to Gordon and Porter Jr.

And that is where it all is about. Davis and James (even though he looks 40 most nights defensively) are doing their part and averaging 58.6 points combined in this series- which thwarts their big 2 of Jokic and Murray (combined 49 ppg). But, they also have Porter Jr. (20.3) and Gordon (18.3) averaging close to 40 when we have Reaves and Russell combining for a meager 26.7....

And that brings us to D'Lo, who already is a bad defensive player and he has been abysmal in 2 of these 3 games, capped off by his awful game 3 of ZERO points. He is now shooting 32% from the field and an even worse 31% from 3 point range and what is even worse is he cant get to the rim (ZERO free throws the entire series) and honestly I havent seen him try to except for the one time where he was fouled after the layup was already missed...

This team needs a (bleep) enema...

OMG - you actually trust Prince - lol!!! By default, he has been one of the better bench players. I guess Prince doesn’t feel like providing offense, defense, effort and/or energy during the regular season.

It is funny that you slammed Ham for his decisions yet applaud his decision to play and stick with Prince - lol!! If Vanderbilt or CWood were available, he would have very limited PT

Dinwiddle and Vincent have a proven track record of what they can provide

Ham doesn’t trust Hayes or Christie at this time. One would believe that they will get more minutes in Game 4

Consistency matters. So does culture. Both take time to develop, which the Lakers do not seem to have the patience for.

Seemingly countless roster iterations ago, the 2019-20 championship roster included a 25-year-old Alex Caruso, a 26-year-old Kentavious Caldwell Pope, a 32-year-old Danny Green, a 24-year-old Kyle Kuzma and on and on. With Anthony Davis, then just 26.

-

Instead of building culture or fortifying a championship core, it'll be another summer of change and churn in Los Angeles. Another offseason of searching for the right mix, rather than letting things settle and grow.

-

In one room, a future Hall of Famer was talking about nearly a decade's worth of culture and team building. In the other, a future Hall of Famer was lamenting the disconnect within his own locker room.

In one room, Jokic was naming former teammates such as Gary Harris and Jameer Nelson, who had helped Denver find its championship identity. In the other, James was deliberately not naming any of his current teammates -- outside of Davis -- so as not to further destabilize what is already a sinking ship.
https://global.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40035876/the-harshest-truth-los-angeles-lakers-0-3-deficit-denver-nuggets-nba-playoffs

-

During the Magic/Cap/Big Game/Coop/BScott and Shaq/Kobe/Pau/LO/DFish/Big Shot/Harper/Fox/BShaw regimes, they were built the same way

Pau = AD
LBJ = Kobe
AR = DFish
Vanderbilt = Fox
Rui = LO/Horry

Riles and Phil needed a couple years to get the lineups to work

Agree. Tired of the revolving doors every damn offseason. Every year trying to correct some mistake from last summer, instead of just incrementally upgrading our championship core from 2020

Did you know that many of the Nuggets, especially the Starting 5, have been together 3-5 years with Malone.

Given Prince’s excellentball-handling skills, maniac effort on defense, one of the Lakers’ top shooters and constantly moving on offense (lmao), maybe Ham’s fav player might have the Lakers up 3-0 - lol!!

Look forward to your specific ideas to make this Laker win a championship - beat the Nuggets

Probably against all NBA teams not called the Nuggets, Lakers would probably have already won 1-2 games
