Thanks DB.
One thing, I dunno if it's just me but I somehow feel that Farmar is taking too many threes nowadays ...

whats this world coming to? i found myself saying out loud "the machine!" everytime Sasha took a shot last night

i thought phil took too long to put Ariza in to cool off Deng in the 3rd, luke has no business starting against the elite athletic small forwards.

i cant wait until Kobe's gro(i)n (john ireland slip up) is fully healed so he will stop settling for so many jumpers

how does lamar continue to miss such easy layups? great game from him otherwise though, just not on the defensive end. (also poor clock management towards the end of the game)

as i said on draft day, i wish we would have drafted Gray instead of either Yue or Gasol.

does john ireland realize how stupid he looks when he asks a question and while the person is responding he keeps nodded his head like a bobblehead with his cheesy grin?

i almost feel sorry for big ben

great win, thanks DB and tach

Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

Kobe's shot has been off for a while now, even before the groin injury. I am sure with that injury he can't get his legs under him how he should or would like, but I wonder also how much his arm injury is affecting his play? Any word on how his arm is doing? Since the beginning of the season when we heard he hurt himself (was it his elbow?), I had not heard much more and whether he is getting better or not.

Any words, DB, Eric, anyone? Anyone?

Excellent utilization of Lamar Odom.

Don't make his pea brain think too much.

Throw him down in the low block and have him clean up boards throughout the game.

Have him shoot from inside the paint over smaller sized forwards as much as possible.

Only penetrate on delayed fast breaks when the opportunity presents itself.

DO NOT go one on one or chuck up 3s from the outside.

DO NOT make him "think" or expend any kind of significant brain power.

The Lakers were dominant on the glass. LO at his best position at the PF, which gives him the ability to touch the ball and be part of the game. Offensively, he's still passive, but at least he is finding spots to react.

Bynum playing 40 minutes? He's shown Phil that he can be effective so now he's going to get more time to prove his stamina. Even when Kwame returns (or should I say 'if' he returns), Bynum should remain the starter.

What can you say except "Sashaaaah"? Sweet stroke and a dunk even. What's the world coming to?

I'm not sure that he's read to maintain those minutes, it could cause him to hit a wall. I think Phil's banking on Kwame returning after the road trip.

No doubt LO's at his best at PF, the question will always be, how long before he retares the labrum? Let's face it, we're on borrowed time here.

Great stuff as usual DB. I'd like to add a couple of thoughts:

Kobe - He has a team that is more capable of running the tri, so he really needs to avoid taking shots outside of the offense. It's frustrating to see him break the tri consistently to try to get his own shot. He normally gets good looks when he just lets the team run the offense. Of course, there are going to be many opportunities in a game where he needs to go away from the offense, but I feel that those opportunities need to be taken only when necessary - not whenever Kobe feels like putting up a shot. Still, I applaud his warrior attitude out there and appreciate the fact that he's still doing a lot of the little things to help the team win.

Fish - His shooting is an enigma to me. There are games where he can't miss, and yet, he'll get the exact same shots the next game and start bricking most of them. Nevertheless, you can deny his mental toughness. If that was Smush missing all those shots yesterday, he would've been mentally taken out of the game. However, Fish still played hard-nosed D and continued to take the shots that were given to him. He even got a few baskets on sheer will and determination alone.

Luke - I hope his shot continues to fall because just like DG, his entire game is affected by his ability to make shots.

LO - He's definitely more affective at the 4, and as long as he boards like a monster and takes advantage of the offensive opportunities that come his way, then I'll be happy. He certainly had trouble guarding Deng, but didn't have any issues with his effort last night.

Bynum - No one expected him to be a defensive anchor this soon. Some doubted that he'd ever be a 2 bpg player. It just amazes me how quickly he's learned to read angles and, just as importantly, react to shots. He had a sub-par offensive first half but still was able to make an impact with his shotblocking, intimidation and rebounding. The kid is pure gold, and I was happy to see that his energy level and activity remained high throughout his 40 minutes of PT.

That's one of the reason I placed that GS loss on Phil. Let the kid play so he can enhance the Lakers defense especially with teams that are athletic as GS and or the Bulls last night.

Another good reason to keep playing Odom at PF ... opens up minutes for Ariza at SF. The amazing thing about Ariza is that he always stays within himself. He know what his game is defense, slash to the basket, assists, rebounds ... hustle plays. You will not see him camped out at the 3pt line. Good things happen when he is in the regular rotation.

Thanks DB.

Nice game, at times are defense look so horrible and we were letting the Bulls get open shots and thats why they were so close to tied the game.I was impressed by Sasha he has been playing a lot better and has those three going.

Interesting stat of the night: Kobe in 4th Quarter - 0 pts. Normally, that is such a bad thing, but the Lakers won anyway.

I think/hope it could be the opposite. Phil and maybe the whole organization are trying to decide if they can let Kwame and his expiring contract go. Is Bynum that ready, that reliable? Can he do 38-40 every night? If so, Kwame could be heading out of town.

Actually, I'm kinda surprised Bynum got so much run. Ronny and Mihm were available last night and certainly Chi has a definite lack of low post scoring options. Phil could've just as easily let Ronny or Mihm get some burn, but instead, Phil chose to give Bynum the time.
