The Bynumbers were off the chart. Instead of a 24 pt night, though, he should've had 35 or so. Totally inexplicable to me how the team stopped feeding him from mid-2nd Q on. Bynum only got 2 shots after that point. Despite the win, the poor execution is starting to bug me.

Great games from LO and DFish. Yucky games from Kobe and Luke. The Lakers won a game they should have won. A 3-1 roadie is a must.

How come the Lakers don't have throwback purple away unis?

^ I think they only make one throwback (either home or away) for a team.

thanks DB. Both Bynum and Lamar had amazing games.

Bynum had a perfect game. Here's the highlights of all of his made shots plus his one block.

I wonder what are the "stamina issues" Phil keeps talking about? They don't show up in the game. Maybe Phil thinks about the difference between first half and second half production of Bynum, but this is not so much an issue with Bynum but with other guys not feeding him...

Money Smith brought that up to Kup saying that he thought it was a myth because AB never looked tired and next to Kobe always looked like the 2nd best player on the court. Kup didnt have an answer either

Maybe Phil is thinking long term. He's been around the game enough to gauge a players long term stamina.

Either way.... Kwame's injury was a blessing in disguise (so to speak)... it allowed Bynum to really show what he can do. He's seen some quality minutes because of it. It will be interesting to see what will happen when Kwame returns...

Speaking of our bigs, what's up with Mihm?

Did you notice before he was getting 8 Defensive rebounds per game in 24 minutes? He's definitely pacing himself and playing smarter, but not playing with "full power" because as his minutes have gone up considerably, his rebounding hasn't kept pace with it.

I think his minutes have gone up because he's been able to plug up the lanes with his size, and Phil's banking on having Kwame when we get back home. I suspect AB's minutes will go down to 25-30 mpg.

Thanks DB Great recap as usual.

What impresses me the most about Bynum is how quickly he's learning and applying the advice he gets. Now, my biggest concern with the team is how Kobe adjusts to Bynum becoming more prominent in the offense. He seems to be resisting the inside out play favoring his perimeter play, holding the ball too long and what not. Kobe's got to come to a point where he's willing to give up his desire to work solo in the offense, and rather be willing to work off the opportunities the inside out game provides him and the rest of the team. He's got to "let go" of that vision he has of conquering the world by himself. Since he's injured, as you say, he's got to play smarter. I'd like to see him pass quicker if he doesn't have anything, and since he's drawing the opposing teams best defender(s), we should be using him more as a decoy to open up the floor for others.

I didn't get to the game thread yesterday, but did anybody notice Phil finally called a timeout yesterday? Sixers were about to make their run in the 4th and Phil actually got up and called the timeout. Hopefully that trend will continue.

Great game by Bynum. You could see he was playing tired for about 15 minutes (though he did get a second wind). I think Phil is trying to play him into the shape to be able to play 35 mpg.

2nd night of a back to back after playing 42 in a physical game in Cleveland. Bynum looked great.

just wanted to de-lurk briefly to comment that i found it absolutely hilarious that after halftime jim grey said that the coaches pounded on the lakers that they were to work inside out more and to throw the ball to bynum more, and then bynum got a grand total of two touches in the post that quarter.

bynum was killing the sixers on the inside, they had no answer to him, and the lakers go away from it. sometimes it's just mind boggling.

DB, do you think AB has enough to be the comeback player of the year?

How isn't Bynum in the all-star ballot seriously?

That's why they provide that space for write-in votes.

But don't expect Andrew to get more votes than Yao, Amare or Timmy.

Bynum will probably never be the starting allstar center while Yao is in the Western Conference, and remotely able to play.

Nor will any other player, I'd wager.

Thanks DB. Awesome new title--Editor-in-Chief.

Kobe has a bit of trouble with those long full-court passes. A lot of the times he attempts those, I kind of expect a turnover. I hope the coaching staff will remind him of this.

Bynum's minutes was a concern to me heading into the second-half of the season. Good to hear he's weathering the storm.

Luke's confidence was so low in the fourth that Ariza immediately replaced him when he didn't take that free-throw shot and turned it over.

Wow, early game tomorrow. Hope our west-coast guys can handle that adjustment.

Luke was even going to try to blame that turnover on Bynum. That was a pretty poor play, he should of put it up.
