Of course the team has no pressure to move him, we're playing great but that doesn't mean they don't have the pressure to get better in the 2nd half and playoffs by adding a piece.
Good article.

Great read Eric. As much as people want Kwame gone, he is probably the key to possibly upsetting the Champs. I for one hope they are able to re-sign him to a cheaper KT (say 2 years) until Drew is ready for 40+ mpg on a consistent basis. |

The acquisition of Trevor Ariza has loaded the team up at the three and frankly power forward is the squad's most specious position. Look for LA to decide Odom's fate with the squad after the postseason.
Dont you think they will hold on to Lamer regardless b/c of his $$$ coming off the books the following year _________________

EP- this started from another thread and is way OT. do you have anyway of finding out who the asian lady is that sits near Jack and why she never shows any emotion? (smile, clap, cheer, etc) it would be a great story. even if you can't find out, a hoopsworld exclusive about the other superfans would be a fun article (just a thought) _________________ "When (Kobe) gets you on life support, he won't give you mouth to mouth. Agree with you my fellow Kwame fan. This is his contract year and he has been hurt and a la Mr. Pipp lost his job to the youngster Bynum. He should not make $9mil again, but I would not mind keeping him at $5 mil for 2 or 3 more years.
His size, speed and agility on D make him hard to score over. Mihm and Ronny can not even hope to contain a TD or a Yao. Kwame can do that. He is far from perfect but I think he has finally settled into his role and I think that he is excelling coming off the bench.
Also I agree with Eric that this whole team is now comfortable with their roles and expectations. They are clicking and I think that even Vlade will play better once his injury heals. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

I know exactly who you are talking about. I give her props for wearing an 80s era Lakers Starter jacket. The black one. I saw her wearing it during the Sixer's game. I had one too (got it in 8th grade) and would be wearing it today if it still fit. |

I hope they don't move Kwame unless it is a significant player, which is not likely to happen. Kwame is a serviceable backup that has a defensive presence in the middle and he does play Duncan well.
Rad is the wild card. He sure has a nice shot when it is on, but that is the problem, it isn't on often enough.

Are the Lakers still not sold on Odom? You mention them determining his fate after the season. I think he has performed well since going back to the 4. Has there ever been a Point POWER Forward? |

Yea, Kwame is healthy now, but why are we so sure he'll stay that way? Do we really want yet another valuable commodity go to waste? |

Lakers should offer Miami Kwame, Radmanovic, and Sasha for Shaq. |

"Bobby Jones, formerly of the Nuggets, stands out as a young player with tremendous potential."
^jones was one of the players i wanted us to consider in the 2nd round of his draft year. too bad we're already set this year.

I have never seen specious used in that context. I'm not sure what you mean by that. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

We still have one roster spot right? Having another lock down wing defender (ala Ariza) sounds like a good idea to me. Put him on the bench next to Critt and see what he does in practice. Any hope of this happening? _________________ “This goes far beyond paychecks” |

Kwame is a better post defender than anybody the Lakers could get in return.
Dump him and you'll have nobody to back up Bynum in the playoffs. Not so smart. |

i don't think a guy like Bobby Jones would want to come if it means sit on the inactive list all day - Lakers have no room for a 1, 2 or 3 - if Sasha and Critt are the backup 2's.
all positions are really set for now - though Odom is debatable at the 4 - we'll just have to see how it plays out. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

I dont think theres a chance in hell we unload Kwame, nor should we! He seems to be in a mode where he is starting to let it all hang out. Lets wait and see what he can do. I think we are going to see a new Kwame, the one that we have impatiently been waiting for. Once he shows up, look out! We`ll have two monsters to contend with. |

A couple of edits, Eric:
Eric Pincus wrote: | Part of the reason the LA has such good chemistry this year is that nearly everyone on the team knows their role. |
Should be "reason the LA Lakers" or "reason that LA has"
And:
Eric Pincus wrote: | Usually teams who on the bubble or in playoff contention |
Forgot the "are"
If the Lakers do not move Kwame this season, yet his contract expires, do you think the Lakers are ready to just see him walk? Who might have interest in Kwame after this season? And for that matter, who might have interest in Odom after this season?
Any sense we should keep looking at Kidd or J. O'Neal, or do you feel those ships have completely sailed? _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.
