No need for Posey(who isn't worth alot of $, and that's why the C's havn't signed him up yet) in LA, when Ariza should be the backup sf. As for Kemp, he is a solid summer invite.

The Los Angeles Daily News (Elliot Teaford) reports: The Lakers are pursuing Marcelus Kemp, a shooting guard from the University of Nevada. Kemp’s agent, John Grieg, told a Reno newspaper he expected a deal to be struck soon.

Posey wants Lakers, Lakers willing to go full MLE to land him!?

Sounds like there is mutual respect on both sides. I would, once again, LOVE to have James Posey on this Lakers squad: Hoopsworld : Why are the C’s distancing themselves from Maggette? It did not sit well with James Posey, who was labeled the Celtics top off-season priority. The Celtics did make an
offer to Posey that was far less than the full boat median exception.

Jesus. Is this what its come to now? Chasing Marcelus Kemp?

Yeah for a summer league spot. Why does that bother you so much?

Ariza is a career backup. Posey is a starter. It was advocated to play Allen - Pierce - Posey - Garnett by Jeff Van Gundy. Infact, they were always on the floor together in the 4th quarter.

We could easily utilize this lineup:

G: Kobe Bryant
G/F: Lamar Odom
F: James Posey
F/C: Pau Gasol
C: Andrew Bynum

An agent said the Lakers are chasing his undrafted client.

Don't get carried away.

The team is filling out the SPL roster. This agent just got a bit overzealous.

The guys at CL say these 7 will be on the team:

Cedric Bozeman ... Former UCLA guard.
Joe Crawford ... Second-round pick in last month's draft from Kentucky.
Davon Jefferson ... Forward from USC.
Coby Karl ... Backup guard with the Lakers last season.
Marcelus Kemp ... Undrafted guard from Nevada.
Yi Li ... Forward from China.
Lorenzo Mata-Real ... Undrafted forward from UCLA.

Why? I can understand all the rest of the players, but Jefferson is lazy, has no work ethic, and has no shot at all of making the team. At least the others have a marginal chance to maybe steal a spot, but Jefferson has none whatsoever.

I bet this is inaccurate, but the OC Register is insinuating that Trevor Ariza will play in Vegas.

Quote:
Hello, Trevor.

It’s great to see you and we’re looking forward to you playing for the Lakers’ summer league team in Las Vegas.

Going into the 2008-2009 season, Trevor, a starting job should be something that you aspire for and nothing less than being one of the first players off the bench, should be your goal.

You have a chance to be part of something special, on a NBA team that you rooted for as a kid.

Thanks for coming in and we’ll see you in Vegas.

I wouldn't call that insinuating. Maybe wishful thinking on the part of the author. Trevor isn't eligible to play in the Summer League anyway.

I hope you are kidding. Jefferson may have some poor qualities, but if they didn't exist he would even be a viable SPL option, he'd be a FIRST ROUND PICK. Of all the guys on the SPL roster, he has by FAR the most upside. Do you realize he was, at one point, projected to go lotto?

LG was pining for Mitch to take a flyer on Gerald Green. Davon is a similar gamble. I find it absolutely ludicrous that you're actually pissing and moaning about having a world-class athlete with huge upside on our SPL roster who plays 1 of our 2 positions of need (Small Forward).

Why? Maybe because hes more talented than Bozeman, Mata and Karl combined? If he improves his attitude he has all the physical tools to succeed in the NBA. Some of these others dont have a chance.

I think Kemp and Jefferson are the best options from this group.

Does Jefferson have all the tools to succeed? Absolutely, but I'm worried about where his head is. A player can be an absolute stud physically, but be a few nuts short and it screws the player. Darius Miles comes to mind. He had all the physical attributes needed to be a star, but his head wasn't in the right place. If we want Posey and Jefferson, you're going to have to find suitors for Walton AND Radmanovic, which is easier said then done.

Speaking of tools, who did Keith Brughmbaugh sign with?

Yi Li is also trying out for the Lakers' summer league team? Very Intriguing, to say the least. I hope the coaching staff give him meaningful minutes. Oodles of potential this one has.

I hope Crawford, Kemp, and Jefferson are all given equal consideration for a roster spot. Hopefully Karl wont get the nod just because he knows the tri. Pick the player who shows the most individual ability out of the 4, then go from there.
