They seem to not realize that they are every team's BIG game until they realize it and play accordingly--- they won't be champions...the 3-peats had to go through the same growing process.

You know I really don't think this year will be our year to win a ring. This team still has some very serious growing pains to get through IMHO.

Roster needs to be revamped slightly. We need to upgrade our SF and PG positions. We also need to bring in more veteran talent. And most importantly we need to seriously commit to defense. It's going to take another beating in the playoffs before Phil realizes this though IMHO.

I'm feeling the same thing. I think they need to have their heart broken one more time.
As far as I'm concerned this team is no better than the Dallas team that had an outstanding season and lost in the 1st round to the Warriors a few years back.

It's a long flight from LA to Miami, and some guys on the team probably still have the flu. I'm not surprised they wouldn't have the fire today.

However, this doesn't explain what's happened in the last month.

+1

This was actually one of the games on this stretch I thought the Lakers would have problems winning.

No. No excuses. TOs + FTs were our problem (+ when you allow that Cook guy, didn't shaq say something about him? to go off for 14, things aren't going to go your way)

Gasol has strep throat. Even with antibiotics, did anybody really expect him to play at 100%?!?

It's the players. We don't have the players that have an already-lit-fire...

Those are reasons for losing, not just excuses. Whether you want to believe it or not, even championship teams struggle in road games. The Spurs were never that good on the road.

No....? Cancer is the word for Marbury and Smush.

I mean, come on, most of our team is playing like headless chickens. It's not just one person or two, it's the whole damn team.

If they do not have a fire lit inside of them after that 39 point beat down from the C's, then they're just zombies. Phil Jackson, Kurt Rambis or B Shaw should not have to tell paid professionals about putting forth a 100% effort every time they get on the floor.

If they put forth 100% and lose, then there's no issue. You just got beat by a better team on that night.

You can't blame Phil for everything and these guys should already be motivated enough. If they need motivation, go watch game 6.

I think they all have amnesia, or they forget real easily. They started the season with that fire, but after that, it's all going downhill.

only good thing from this game was once again, they didn't cover the point spread ... and as long as they are going to keep playing like a bunch dolts, i'm going to keep cashing in. Easy money !!!!!

i'm tired of hearing this. when you're getting paid to do something that you love, you should be extremely thankful and shouldn't need anyone to motivate you. these guys are professional athletes, and if they can't play with 100% effort without coaches yelling at them all the time, then they should probably start looking for something else to do.

They don't look like they want it! When you watch Boston or Cleveland play, you can tell they're hungry. We look like a team coming off a 3-peat that is so bored with themselves. They think they can just cruise control through the regular season and the West and then turn it up. Sorry, that's not how it works
