It's OK. Cohen Bros. films aren't for everyone, certainly not for the UCLA crowd...

My roomate loved them as do lots of other people in school. The Big Lebowski was particlarly popular with my friends. I'm one of the few Bruins who doesn't care for them.

I was just playing. UCLA is a fine school. You must be one of those hardship cases they let in...

I knew you were kidding . Are you a big fan of their's 24? I admit that I have not really seen much of their work and am probably just indifferent to their films and do not actually "hate" them. Any film in particular that you recommend?

Also is it "Coen"?, and not "Cohen"? Wikipedia seems to think so.

Yeah, I'm a big fan, and yeah, its Coen.

I think the reason i like them so much is that they are not only willing to range all over the place, but they are also quite willing to let each piece be what it is. They don't shoehorn everything into their "style" to the point where it's difficult to say what their style is (something that afflicts even really great directors), beyond creating disparate, entertaining, eclectic movies. And despite this, they almost never make a stinker (I say almost because Ladykillers is indefensible, even for a big fan).

My faves are Fargo, Oh Brother Where art thou, and The Big Lebowski.

IMO, Eastwood and these guys are among, if not the best directors currently working

Shakin is irksome, I agree. What ever happened to bleeps doin the slow 90 degree bend? My brain doesn't work fast enough to Gestalt the real image of an ass bouncing at 4x per second. (You can tell I've put a lot of thought into this.)

Is that the film with Rodney Dangerfield about some boy dressed up to play girls' soccer?

That's 'Ladybugs', with the late, great Jonathan Brandis. 'Ladykillers' is with Tom Hanks.

"Lost". I suppose hate is the wrong term, more like couldn't care less. In a lot of ways it's like a reasonably attractive, very popular girl whom I have no chemistry with at all. I have no heartburn with the guys queueing up to date her, but she's just not for me.

Adult Swim. I guess since I stopped smoking weed on a daily basis quite a few years ago, I don't fully understand how cartoons for grown-ups is regarded as being "hilarious".

The Return of the King

I felt that it was the worst of the three films, and many others felt that it was the best. It was really boring imo

I thought they were all excellent. They were filmed at the same time (in reality it was one film broken into three parts), and stayed relatively true to the material.

I'm with you on the last two, but Steak and Bacon are reasons 1 and 1A that I'm not a vegetarian.

Beer and chocolate are probably my two favorite things in the world (not mixed though and not chocolate beer either or beer-flavored chocolate).

There are certain things that aren't my taste, but I can understand the appeal. That anybody puts that clothing on themselves and walks outside of the house is something I simply don't understand. At all.

- Foods lathered in bbq sauce, especially ribs
- Lobster
- The apples in apple pie (I'd rather only eat the crust)
- Chocolate (I don't hate it, but I don't ever crave it)
- UFC apparently. I had no idea how popular it was.
- Burt's Bees products
- Vodka
- Quizno's...yuck

Edit: Most of those things I don't "hate". I just don't care for them.
