But sometimes all it takes is one word or an emoticon or maybe that person feels the prior poster has said it all and they agree with their assessment or post and he/she is giving them their props? It's like reading the mind of members here and saying that's the reason why they posted like that.

It seems like some of you guys are now simply using this opportunity to air your "LG Pet Peeves" rather than truly coming up with mutual beneficial standards for all.

I would much rather see any privileges tied to the quality of posts rather than the quantity. Rewarding quantity will only encourage superfluous posts. This would mean that a rating system like the one LS suggested could be a useful tool to enhance the board, improve the quality of arguments or level of respect shown. I think that the best way to do it would be to let the mods and the veteran posters rate posts on a five NBA Championship Trophy scale as many times as they want. Until a poster has earned enough trophy pts to become a "championship poster" they cannot evaluate others using that system.

The thing I would like to see abandoned is the attempts to marginalize posters who have a different opinion using exaggerations. It is a pattern just as disrespectful as name-calling and probably used just as frequently. Instead of using contradictory facts to blow someone's argument away, we'll just restate the argument in some extreme or exaggerated fashion to make it look stupid or take it out of context. It is just laziness, really but cheap laughs ensue and then somebody needs to defend themselves with personal attacks. I've seen this occur as a pattern of disrespect that completely debases good threads.

I appreciate when mods politely but firmly request posters to support their side of an argument with facts or examples instead of just mocking their opposition. Those threads tend to stay on track and are more enjoyable (for me, at least) from that point on.

There was a thread not to long ago where we were giving props to our favorite posters. Some of those guys like Mike [AT] LG, LakerSanity, Luxury Brown, JD, etc. whose names kept coming up should be rewarded and given the juice to encourage more posters to be like them so that this board doesn't lose its quality. The number of threads you can start and whatever privileges can be tied to that ranking instead of the current rank which rewards quantity not quality.

Wow, if a thread title starts with OT why is it in the Lakers Lounge? Get that (bleep) where you know it belongs!

Seriously... this happens daily.... OT = Off-Topic = General Basketball Discussion and/or NBA Draft, and/or Off-Topic, it's not rocket science!

Also hate when something has nothing to do with the Lakers, but the poster makes some asinine comparison to make it Laker related to justify posting in the Lounge...

Just a pet peeve.... carry on.....

Topics that turn start off well but degenerate into 35 page mudslinging contests should be locked without warning.

All provocative topics designed to incite flames wars should be locked immediately. Their is a huge difference between being opinionated and being provocative and many posters here don't seem to be able to distinguish between the two.
