Congrats!!!
I'd love to donate some money... but my user name has been locked out for the last few weeks, since I tried to change the e-mail address in my profile. Anyway, my original username is patmcfar8.
Who do I talk to about getting that fixed?
I tried a few PM's but they didn't seem to work.
Regardless, I'm off to send in a donation... and thank you for the great site. My Laker's fix!
Patrick
EDIT: Donation away! That Amazon pay thing is smooth. |

I am so proud of all who contributed and know there are many who couldn't make a money donation but contribute to LG in many other ways. I think we'll be secure and speedy for years with the new server.

I have complete confidence in DB, Larry, Exick and others that we'll get the new hot rod in ASAP. Just like with AB, we don't need to rush things and screw things up in haste. |

Update: I sent a full system spec to DancingBarry just now. If ordered today, the preliminary ship date is March 9, with 2nd day shipping a reasonable method.
I don't know how long it takes with Amazon for funds to clear. If DancingBarry needs to wait for that to happen, then it'll delay the process. |

I donated $35 and think you ought to hold a drive once a year!
Thing is, it will help to pay the monthly operating fees for the server!
Are you guys buying your own server and THEN paying to co-locate it??
For people who don't know, co-location is an expensive way to have a website hosted.
I lease a server, so I have my own dedicated server, but I have to deal with what my service provider has available, which in my case is working out fine.
But you guys would likely NEED a faster machine now, so I applaud you for going for it.
But I hope everyone recognizes what you have done for the community! I thank you for doing this! I pray it works well for all of us, I'm sure it will. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |

We have a pretty reasonable colo, and the advertising revenue goes directly to support that cost. I'd much rather own our own server than lease one. As you said, it leaves you at their mercy for too much stuff. And once you start getting into something that's configured to suit your needs, the savings (if any) are negligible. |

It's also possible we may need to double our co-lo expenses at some point down the line to host two servers, too. We'll see. |
