we simply can't stop them. let's face it. our best chance is to outscore them, that's it. pray every night that odom and artest can make their shots, otherwise we need a miracle to beat them |

Gasol might have tried to play SOME defense tonight. |

if you think us not going to pau and kobe was the reason we lost then i seriously question wth you were watching. defense was the issue tonight _________________ "I wish I could draw a picture of the look on their faces..... I hate it when the lakers play stupid, hate hate hate it. |
it doesn't matter WHAT defense they play, you DON'T let Farmar, Brown and Odom handle the ball.. they're not going to run the triangle effectively for you.. they can bring the ball up, but that's it. Brown looks awkward doing that even. Zone makes them dribble even more than their usual. |

I was going to say Kobe to but, he still was able to get to the line a couple times...no thanks to anyone else. Plus I said Gasol specifically just cause we weren't getting the ball in the paint. Both Kobe and Gasol should have chewed out those scrubs for handing the game away. |

As bad as LO and Bynum played, the zone is what really killed us. Way too many 3's. All it did was fuel the Sun's offense.
We also need to do a better job stopping the P&R. _________________ I Recommend VLC Player: http://www.videolan.org/ |

The Suns won't win this series. Hopefully this will wake up the Lakers a little bit and we can play better in the future. More focus on offense, more intensity on defense. This level of play will not get it done against the Celtics.... _________________ Regarding #24:

Kobe's wasted statline: 36 points 13/24 / 9 rebounds / 11 assists. |

Well, don't know where to put the blame for tonight. Was it just the refs preventing the Lakers from getting any sort of rhythm, or is this team back to the notion of flirting with that playoff switch?
Either way, I think it goes without saying that the Lakers handled the zone very poorly. This team shot the 3 ball surprisingly well the last 2 games, but tonight was a return to form to what we were used to seeing from the season. Towards the end of the game, the Lakers went into chucking mode, expecting that to bail them out from the big bad zone. It backfired pretty poorly as the Suns went from a slim lead to double digits. If guards tried passing inside, more often than not it became a turnover.
Overall, the 4th quarter tonight was a far cry from the impressive performances LA had in Game 6 in OKC or Game 3 against the Jazz. Tonight this team went into the 4th in a fairly good position, but wound up collapsing instead of making yet another statement game. This series could very well end up tied going back to Staples, but hopefully they'll have a better plan of attack for the zone next time. If a team like Phoenix (not known for great defense) can cause this many problems for LA, I can only imagine what Boston can do. |

I guess if we want to think optimistically, lakers need to be tested.. zone and teams that can rotate faster give lakers problems.. if they don't figure it out now, I'd rather the lakers lose to the Suns than being manhandled by Boston. Can't take that again.. the team hasn't had a sense of urgency all year, that extra killer attitude.. are they going to change? |

I am surprised we didn't get blown out with how we played tonight. Amare had 42pts , the FT disparity, Shooting way too many threes and too many TOs! I am not worried! I said Lakers in 5 and I am standing by it!

Not sure if it is possible for 5 players to come off the bench and play actual minutes (~70 minutes total) and play so poorly.
How the hell can we lose when their bench gives them so little??? |

Yup, except our defense never got a chance to get going because of horrible foul calls. |

Lakers also shot better FG%, got more rebounds, had more assit, BUT they FT disparity was 22 in favor of PHx and also the turnover KILLED the lakers. |
