I guess when the bad luck rains, its pours.
Quote: | Making matter worse for the Lakers, Chris Mihm, perhaps the team's second-most consistent player in recent weeks, slipped out of the locker room and into an adjacent X-ray room after the game. He was diagnosed with a mild to moderate right shoulder sprain after getting fouled by Bobcat center Primoz Brezec with 2:25 to play. He will be re-evaluated today. |

You've got to be kidding.
Too bad Greg Oden isn't coming out in the draft this year. |

Hopefully he'll be okay. If not, man Kobe is going to feel overwhelmed. |

I'm just wondering if Phil can get rolled over...because if we had a few unfortunate injuries (kobe and odom), it would almost seem as if we could play the young guys, including Bynum, and not worry about losing games. I hope not, because there's noone in the draft for us, and all we need to do is sign Ely next year and we're a better team. In 2007, we'll have all the space and make the big play, but we should win and challenge people in the meantime. The draft is for losers. |

No, I don't think so. Phil has a record to play for, and he shouldn't give in to a collapse. |

Ely will come cheap, because he's not getting any playing time, and Charlotte is still mainly holding down his playing time, just to minimize his value. When Okafor comes back, Ely wll be back to 20 minutes. We can get Ely for a 1 or 2 year contract where we promise him 28 minutes as long as he's in shape and busting his a#$.
And we need him...a low post scorer who can score with either hand in either direction. Plus, he was showing off his hook shot tonight, and obviously wouldn't mind working with Kareem on a short-term contract so he can make the big cash come 2007 or 2008. Ely is already one of the more impressive players in the league in terms of low post fundamentals...imagine if he could work with Kareem for a year or two. And imagine how he would improve Andrew's game in practice too, because Ely has a lot of moves that 'Drew could learn. |

I know this is hard to fathom, but Ely won't be available for a one year MLE. |

Actually, Ely will not make more than the MLE, and he knows it, so the right offer for a guaranteed 26-28 minutes/night on a high profile team, AND a chance to work personally with Kareem on your game, WOULD likely bring Ely to the Lakers (though 2 years would likely be the deal).
Melvin Ely has been a prodigy his whole life in the paint...imagine if he worked with Kareem for a year or two. Then he'd be worth 8-10 million.
And, if we got him, I doubt we'd let him go. Instead, we'd probably snatch up a Kirk Hinrich. |

OK kid, it's up past your bedtime. If we don't get Ely for a one year MLE, there's always Kirk Hinrich. |

You're a genius. If we sign Ely, and he flourishes, we don't get rid of him, we go after a shooting and defending guard instead of a PF/C (since we have Bynum coming in). Is is that hard to read? |

Ely isn't coming to the Lakers, because he's close to his post-rookie contract payday. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

KA_2, you've never expressed any intelligence. Ely is not going to get the MLE, unless from New Jersey. We can offer him better value for the longer term of his career. I have no trouble with the CBA...just dumbies like you. |

Actually no, everything you've said here and on LG in general is pretty laughable. There's no reason for Ely to sign with the Lakers, especially if Kupchak's history with the MLE is any indication (George, Vlade, McKie). Just give it up, we know you're a phony. _________________ Westside |
