|

Before every game, the questions are always...how are we gonna stop Kobe from scoring 81 points? How many points is Kobe gonna score tonight? Whos gonna stop Kobe?
Kobe has brought so much attention to himself, that teams are really focusing on him more than ever before. Teams are so concentrated on stopping Kobe right now that their doubling and tripling every chance they get. Denying him the ball every time.
Their letting other teammates get the ball and their seeing results cause their clanking almost every single shot. Of course if Kobe forces shots over double/triple teams, he gets accused of ballhogging. Its truly a mess.
Now with Odom being out till ASB, teams are really gonna focus on him even more. Mitch needs to get some rleiable shooters on this team before its too late. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

Yeah, you would think his teammates would take advantage of the situation by knocking down some wide open jumpers. When guys miss shots and there's nobody within 10 feet of them, they really need to go buy a heart and some guts. |

yea its really simple. If they make their open shots = win games. This what Kobe gets for being unselfish. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

Well if Kobe doesn't go off we lose to the stinking Raptors at home and we'd be just as disgusted as we are now. So either way we lose, the team stinks period. It doesn't matter what happens, you just can't avoid the fact that these guys can't play. |

well kobe is seeming to lose his selfish label everygame.because every commentator says the same exact sentence. "People get on kobe for taking too many shots, but if you look at how his team plays you see why" |

When they were losing, Kobe started being aggressive. He had the hot hand. Normally, teams tend to pass the ball to the man who is hot. Kobe was blazing hot for an entire half. Kobe now is getting doubled and tripled more, which helps his team to score. It comes back to benefit the team. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. I wish it did help but they seem better off when Kobe goes off for 100. These guys don't even know what to do when they get the ball. But I suppose you're right eventually they'll start to knock shots....they have to....probability says they will at the very least accidentally make a shot...right? |

Kobe's been doubled all year. This is a concerted effort by Phil to create "team ball" The minute Kobe goes back to shooting 30 times and the team spends most or all of their effort getting Kobe the ball and an open look, we'll start winning just over half of our games again. |

In the longrun it will help.
Teams aren't really stopping Kobe. I mean he had 35 points tonight and shot the ball at 50% rate.
The only problem with Kobe's game right now is TO's. Once Lamar comes back, Kobe won't have to do so much anymore.
Also, I don't see Phil letting this go on for long. He is going to show these guys tape of how they just stand around and watch Kobe get swarmed instead of cutting to the basket or being more aggressive themselves.
It's a work in progress. Teams are doubling and tripling Kobe and it will take time for these guys to figure out what to do.
Shooting 30+ three pointers is not the answer. We figured that out tonight
I just am suprised at the low IQ of these players though. I played only high school ball and I know if you aren't a good shooter - you shouldn't be hanging around shooting jumpers .
Basketball is all about getting the ball inside. These guys don't cut when Kobe has the ball. They need keep cutting inside and moving around. |

Once Odom comes back it will relieve pressure on Kobe? Are we watching the same team? Kobe is getting screwed by refs who are calling offensive fouls on him (5 tonight) Odom can plant his ass on the bench forever for all I care. This team needs a complete enema. |

It's not a backlash.
What is simply happening is that teams are focusing to stop KB. It's time for the other players to step up.
So far on this road trip when we needed other players to step up, we are 0-4. Not promising. |

Until the rest of the guys start hitting these open shots, and any others for that matter......................You can expect doubles and triples.......Kobe is still getting 34+ per game in 6 games since the 81.............And other teams will, and do see that if we stop Kobe,or at least hold him down under 35,we win easy.......
The other teams are going to make the other guys beat them, and until the rest of the Lakers start making them pay for doubles and triples.......they will continue to hound KObe........
It would be a perfect World if Kobe could get 30 to 35 every night, with only 20 to 24 shots and get 7 to 10 assists per game.......But with this squad he does not have this luxury.....Now with the injury bug, this is going to be even tougher............
It's quite apparent that Kobe needs to get upper 40's + for the lakers to have a true chance at a win these days.......And with this major "D" that wraps around Kobe he will be hard-pressed to get more than the 34 or so he has beeen getting recently........
He has shot 25 for 43 in the past two games, very much within the "O"......I think he actually has to start shooting more, double or not,I dont see a better alternative, perhaps take it to the hole more, draw fouls, but this is again asking just too much from one guy,no matter how great he is...................................We can just hope the other guys step up,and make these teams pay for tripling Kobe........Once the other guys start hitting a decent clip,Kobe can again have a much easier time.......
At this point, the Lakers may have to call for "isolations" for Kobe......get him quick transition baskets......out on the break,he can be free....... |

i dont think it did, teams know kobe is the first and really only option on the team. he is still scoring 35+ a game with a good fg% for a guard. TO's are killing him but its even worse at our pg postion for some reason. its hard to make the right play when the guy your passing to is doing nuthin but laying bricks. _________________ pjax coming back - "Crazy theories one, regular theories a billion."
