I thought Wesley looked pretty good. What did you see that you didn't like? |
I liked his defending and especially his rebounding.
But he is still very hesitant/anxious on offense.
That one play where he got the ball on a backdoor cut and had an open dunk, he hesitated in the air and as a result got fouled instead of getting the and one.
His hesitating when spotting up also causes him to miss too many jumpers.
But hesitation is one of the things D'Antoni is known to remove from his players. I think Wes can certainly improve. _________________ Kobe |

News Flash. Mike (no)D'Antoni beats Brown by 1! Last year we punch out a 27 point loss to these guys in the pre, this year only 26. Things are looking up. |

I wonder if this is what the Lakers are going to look like. I thought Kaman and Pau worked well together so I don't know why Dantoni is using Williams now and getting away with what was working. |

It's the preaseason, he was still trying different things out.
I think he'll play a normal rotation the last 2 games vs Utah, the team needs to get in game shape. _________________

He has zero confidence shooting the ball. He needs better handles too. His defense was just ok to me. To be fair though, D'Antoni had him guarding Lee early on which wasn't fair to Wes. I'm not expecting great play from him but he should at least pose somewhat of a threat on the offensive side. He's a wing player that can't shoot for (bleep). |

Nick Young cooks IGGY at will. knew this kid was one of the most skilled off-guards at getting his own shot in the league |

He knows that works. But it's not like he can run those two out there 48 minutes per game. So the other combinations matter. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Didn't watch the game, but I wouldn't be too worried. If we put our starters in, during the second game, we're 2-1 against GS - Not a big deal.
Most important thing is that we see who just isn't cutting it, and we "trim the fat." Also is important to note and correct our issues. |

I'm so disappointed. This loss takes us out of the preseason championship! Oh well, looking forward to next year |

Trudell continues his streak of chastising opposing coaches for playing their starters and also pointing out that the other team only won against the bench.
The sugarcoating is naive because the Lakers starters are going to be somewhat limited all season. If there is a plan to play Nash, Kobe, Pau, and Kaman 40 minutes a piece like other teams will do with their own starters, that is a recipe for disaster. If the bench is weak, the starters can't afford to simply tread water, they are going to have to start building leads big enough for the bench to maintain. |

That's true, but you will have the starters playing significantly more minutes, and you won't have the opposing starters playing against your wholesale bench unit (staggered subs), much less against guys who are struggling to even make the roster. And the bench will not be closing out anything other than a blowout. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Absolutely. I think there are real explanations for why the team hasn't done well at certain times and it's preseason so the results are all random anyway. The Heat have been blown out and the Suns look great. We all know the real season will yield different results.
My issue with Trudell is that he keeps implying that other teams are cheating and overusing their starters while Lakers starters are playing fewer minutes. That trend is going to continue into the regular season, the Lakers dont have a roster that is designed for heavy minutes and if the bench is getting beat up on, thats going to be a problem in the regular season too. |

It seemed like they got subbed out in the middle of the run. Either way, theres no shame in losing a preseason game. I dont know why Trudell refuses to accept it. |

Don't underestimate D'Antoni. He'll use Nash for 40mpg. _________________

If Nash plays 40 minutes a game we are toast & he'll only last half a season. |
