Stanley Johnson had a big game vs Colorado 22 points
I think at this point we know what kind of player Stanley Johnson will be at the next level. The only thing he's really going to be able to add to his game is making his jump shot consistent and getting up to NBA speed.
He has all the makings of a defensive role player like Artest was and that is pretty much what I'd consider his ceiling.
LeVert has the higher upside and can constantly keep improving as a player as can see in his advancement in play even over the past few years.
In a perfect world we'd pick up Stanley Johnson and Caris LeVert in the same draft.
Though if the world was 'perfect' the Lakers would get the first pick, draft Okafor, send him tot he 76ers for their pick and Joel Embiid, and THEN draft Stanley Johnson and Caris Levert
This notion that Levert can come close to be a franchise player is just bonkers...hes not even starter material and hes already 22.
MikeLg, while i dont love stanley johnson, hes clearly the better prospect between the two, kids going to be a really solid starter and great defensive player. Take a look at old Artest or Jimmy butler. Stan can easily reach that level.

Stanley Johnson is only 18 years old. It's true that he has a pretty complete game for someone his age but I don't think he's done growing as a player. I see artest as a cieling as well but not role player Ron. 20 ppg Ron. I just think stanley can do it more efficiently.
I would consider this draft a success if we needed up with Okafor or stanley Johnson.

Tough news for Caris LeVert, out for 12 weeks w/foot injury. Ends his season, but should recover in time for pre-draft workouts if he chooses
Feel terrible for him
Silver lining is that he may for sure fall to the Lakers with the Houston pick now. But I wish him a speedy recovery!!

That foot is a huge concern. Ugh, there's so much talent there.
I'm not even concerned about the "passive mentality." I don't even think he realizes he has an advantage on a defender.
Once he does realize it, he'll attack all the way to the hoop.
But everything else, the height, length, passing, perimeter shooting, lateral quickness, youth, work ethic, all there. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
UOFM fan here...I watch them faithfully like I do with the Lakers. Levert need to return for a senior season. Improved each season, but his basketball IQ is lacking very much. He's coachable, and put in tons of work each off season. He;s gonna work his butt off, but he seems to take plays off, and shows a lot of disengagement at times. Maybe I'm knit picking too much. The talent is there however _________________ True Laker fan from the state of Michigan! Artest and Jimmy Butler ... with the lottery pick?
How do you define better prospect? I thought Rajon Rondo was definitively a top 10 pick because of his wingspan, hands, passing, ball-handling, defense, speed, and quickness.
He slipped to the 20s. Guess who got the steal.
He slipped because he couldn't shoot? Please.
Levert's primary weakness is strength. I don't think he's a #1 option, but a stud #2 or #3 down the line.
But if you're asking me about Stanley Johnson's shot creating ability, I don't think much of it. He has to bulldoze to get to the line, and he's not as dynamic a playmaker or ball-handler, period. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
A young Artest clone wouldnt be a bad thing at all. Better then a Al Jefferson clone being taking with the 1st overall pick.
I agree on Levert though he should fall into the 20's but once again some team out their will pick him early just to prevent others from taking him later in the draft. Prob Boston.
Michigan man/fan here...Levert is an improved good college player. Comparing him to Johnson is laughable. Johnson is only a freshman and more developed and NBA ready than Levert. Levert is a poor man's Eddie Jones. Do you really wanna put up with a softer version of a soft player we once had? Do ya really? _________________ True Laker fan from the state of Michigan!
