This show loves to push their limits and is extremely over the top, definately not for everyone, but if you watch with an open mind, you may just it interesting. I got hooked this past first season. |

I saw his HBO standup DVD. Good stuff. Too bad about the show.
If he needs work he can always go back and direct "Pootie Tang 2" _________________ Lakers Gonna Lake |

the show never really had its footing. very good first episode and it was all downhill from there.
by hbo standards it deserved to get cancelled. louis c.k. is a great comedian though. will be interested to see what he comes up with after going back to the drawing board. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

That's some (bleep), I thought Lucky Louie was one of the funniest shows on TV and especially on HBO. Maybe it was just too offensive for some people. The supporting cast is what made that show so funny. Guys like Jim Norton, Micahel Hagerty, Rick Shapiro, Larua Kightlinger, etc.

it was offensive type humor. no problem with that. except it didn't go anywhere. it had no depth. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

A little to raunchy for the casual viewer I guess......but hey, people don't mind watching mobsters getting wacked on Sopranos, or semi-celebrities screwing broads left and right on Enterouge....I guess Lucky Louie didn't appeal to the average HBO viewer....... |

How can you say that? Did you miss the whole explanation of God? That was deep. |

Nobody was watching... poor ratings...
Personally I thought the show as okay. I understand what they were going for,.. but after the first episode, I felt like it was a poor Honeymooners rip off. And the set looked worse that the one that Florida and James lived in! |

Yeah the set was pretty bad, but it was made that way to give it a more realistic lower-class families standpoint. |

that entire clip is predicated on them thinking the C word is funny. take out the word and there's no bit. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Well isn't that what makes good comedy? Emphasizing that one thing that makes whatever it is they are trying to accomplish laughable.... |

well, no. saying c--t over and over again to me isn't funny. check out al pacino's monologue in glengarry glen ross. its far funnier than that clip, and it uses the same word. however the context of the scene and the purpose of the monologue isn't to say the word. and that movie is a drama. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Apples and oranges. You're comparing an Al Pacino flick to a low budget HBO comedy...... |

I love Louis CK. His stand-up is GREAT!
But the sitcom was just... eh.
They were trying to create a sitcom out of his routine about his wife and his daughter. In his stand-up, it's HILLARIOUS, but as a scripted piece, it lost something in translation.
Honestly, there just wasn't enough Louis! There were a lot of side characters that did a little too much, IMO. And I thought it was poorly casted (Jim Norton was good, but Laura Knightler was really bad). Louis's stand-up is all about his thoughts, views and how he sees things, but the sitcom never really went there. _________________ Everything. Changes. |

I think the best episode was the DUI. Instead of telling many small jokes, there was a running storyline and it was hilarious. Tell me you didn't laugh the first time you heard Louie's friend say "So this where I get (bleep) in the ass." |

shows on hbo are hardly low budget. and the film i mentioned was low budget as well. and since when does money=quality?? most of the best films of all time are low budget while most of the super high budget films lack quality.
you don't need multi million dollar budgets to be funny if you're a comedian...especially a GOOD comedian like louis c.k. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |
