Okay, there are SO many Japanese/sushi restaurants in this town.
What do you guys recommend?
It would be helpful if to break things down by area. |

Kawamata's in Burbank is off the chain...I have ate at many a sushi restaraunts, and my step grandma would make fresh sushi after fishing trips, and none of that can touch Kawa's. It's a lil hole in the wall but it is off the hook! |

California Roll
No, not the roll, the restaurant.
Tiny, little "hole in the wall" place on Santa Monica Blvd, right near Barrington (in Santa Monica). And I think there's another location on Olympic, in Bevery Hills.
NOT your ordinary sushi place. VERY non-traditional. Lots of "custom-made" sushi. Lots of sushi designed by CUSTOMERS. If you come up with a cool, different sushi idea, they'll add it to their menu, let you name it and they'll put it up on their wall (with all the other customer-designed sushi)... and there are some strange, interesting names.
420 Roll
Hubustank Roll
Yin-Yang Roll
Highly recommend: Tommy Roll _________________ Everything. Changes. |

Someone is loaded.
I agree with Nozawa and Matsuhisa... haven't been to the others.
But Nozawa is completely insane with the price... Matsuhisa is more my level... or actually even Matsuhisa is wayl too expensive for my broke ass. |
