Zu’s cap number was about 200k higher. Potentially could come in handy if we are trying to get close enough on salaries in a trade. Or maybe someone actually liked him more. |

I guess they wanted the more developed out of Zubac and Bryant for this upcoming season _________________ “Life is too short. You have to keep it moving.” - Kobe |

Damn tough to see TB go. I remember he had one good summer league game and everyone was calling him a steal. He was great in g league but man he was awful in the NBA. Was willing to give him another year to prove himself but i guess roster spots will be tight coming up. Zubac wasnt impressive last year but he has better trade value than Tb if any at all. |

The timing is interesting. They had until July 5th, why now? _________________ Austin Reaves

I hope they resign him for the minimum once the FA period is over. I liked him he had great size and was a great shooter. He just needed time to improve his body and quickness. |

Or cause Zu is a better player than Bryant. |

Something is definitely brewing .. I’m not sure I would let Bryant go and kept Zubac tho in terms of today’s NBA. |

Perhaps a deal to bring him back after we sign everybody else? |

It is a good question. At the very least could have been useful salary marching.
I think it's probable that they had made up their minds to let him go and wanted him to have a better shot in free agency. At the end of the day the Lakers are a class org who does right by the players. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

I am prepared to lose Randle. I am thinking Lopez will be resigned after we hopefully sign LBJ and PG. Sign Napier to back up Lonzo.
PG--Ball, Napier
SG--PG, Hart, SVI
SF--Ingram, Kuzma
PF--LeBron, Wagner
C--Lopez, Zubac |

More like 2 max coming. Otherwise, why waive him?
If I recall my math on this correctly from about a year ago (- Clarkson), TB waived + Deng stretched + Randle renounced was the most obvious path. |

I was actually interested in seeing Bryant on the summer league team. I thought a good performance could spell the end for Zu. Guess not. |

I felt the same way. Both are young and have solid potential. Bryant's game seems to fit better with what the team was building toward last year. Maybe they feel Zu fits in better with some of the anticipated FA targets. _________________ "Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who'll argue with you." |

That's a surprise. Zubac was also drafted by the previous regime. We dropped two spots down just to get the extra pick to take TB. I heard he was tearing up the D-league. Quite surprised. |
