One potential positive to Muscala is we can use him to match salaries in a trade for AD.
The Pels lost Mirotic and Randle may not re-sign with them... so they might be wanting PFs rather than wanting a KCP.
Ex: Lonzo (8.3m) + Kuz (2m) + Hart (1.9m) + Muscala (9.5m) = $22,128,080.
Isn't that exactly what is needed to match salaries? AD's cap-hold for 2019-20 is 27,093,019.

Drafted, not paid : Russel, Randle, Nance, Zubac, Bryant
Drafted, paid but dealt in a salary dump: Clarkson
Drafted, not yet eligible to be paid: Ingram, Lonzo, Kuzma, Hart, Moe, Bonga
Drafted and Paid: None
I'm guessing there isn't another team in the NBA who hasn't extended or resigned at least one draft pick this decade. I'm not giving them credit for Jordan either because he was quickly salary dumped. |
That's bleak. |

He did have a nice block a few games ago. That's about it.
If his NBA career does not pan out he has a promising career in construction because he sure knows how to lay some bricks! |

Amazing trade, what a great guy. Traded Zu for this guy to ride the bench and throw up bricks when he does get out there.

Interesting hate for Muscala.
Muscala goes the route of every other big in the Luke Walton system. Misused and benched. Will we find out if Muscala is worth the money? Nope. |

LOS ANGELES — With each passing game, it’s become more clear: The Clippers’ trade-deadline acquisition of Ivica Zubac from the Los Angeles Lakers was a fleecing.
Zubac has quietly become one of the game’s better rim-protectors at just 22 years old. His 7-foot-1 frame and 7-foot-4 wingspan make him one of the biggest players in the league, and he’s figured out how to leverage that size in close quarters. He’s not a swat machine like, say, Joel Embiid or Rudy Gobert, but more of a positionally sound defender who will alter shots in the mold of Marc Gasol or Steven Adams.
Since Zubac’s debut as the Clippers’ starting center on Feb. 9 in Boston, the Clippers are 9-4 and have posted a 102.4 defensive rating in the 264 minutes he has been on the court, which is better than the Milwaukee Bucks’ league-best defensive rating by over 2.0 points per 100 possessions (104.6) and better than L.A.’s season-long defensive rating by over 7.0 points per 100 possessions (109.9, 19th-best in the NBA).
On the season, Zubac’s 102.2 defensive rating ranks 18th among all qualifying players (40-plus games and 15-plus minutes per game) and sixth among centers. |

The Athletic appears to be a pay to read articles trashing the Lakers website. I suppose there's plenty of audience for that.
Yeah I agree getting rid of Zubac for Muscala was a mistake. Someone around the Lakers got into the idea that the Lakers had to fix their team with "shooters".
Luke Walton utilizes centers so poorly that at least this year it wouldn't make much of a difference to have kept Zu. For those that think Brook Lopez would've fixed the Lakers spacing, Luke played Brook the fewest minutes in his career. Luke would still be running small ball with Zubac (and Lopez) on the bench.
Zubac was a nice young player that will probably now get a good contract offer this off-season. With the Lakers current obsession with cap space there was a very good chance he wouldn't have been retained by the Lakers even if they had not traded for him. |

That trade was simply indefensible..Rookie mistake by the front office.
In a nutshell it shows the stark difference between the Clips front office and Maginka. |

This! For me, this trade was the moment when I lost faith in Maginka. Brutal trade. Literally on every level. And as more leaks start coming out about the lack of strategy on the preseason moves of waiving Bryant, letting Jules and Brook walk, it only looks worse. This one stings. |

Which is another mistake, given his cap hold is only $1.93M. Even in a AD trade situation, he could S&T him. _________________ .... |
