i may be remembering this incorrectly, but didn't Kobe have an MRI the same night as the Achilles tear. and had surgery like on the next day? as in the longer you wait, the worse the risk.
would KD travel to NYC with a torn Achilles? i'd think he' already be on the operating table if it was a full tear? |

Opting in his last year with Golden State would not be a good idea.
Durant should get the biggest longest deal he can get, and should have no problems finding a team that would offer him the full 4 year max despite his injury.
He's not going to stay with GSW next season. _________________ The butter is getting hard.

We all know what that's like. Every injury from this point forward will raise questions if they're being handled correctly. |
as it should. Just like the Celtics previous team medical staff, if there was a mistake, they can be replaced |

Let New York have washed up and injury proned KD with a max contract as they're no stranger to paying max money for superstars passed their prime. Honestly, if KD wanted to come to the Lakers, I would have reservation about giving him a max contract. Achilles injuries are no joke and KD is on the wrong side of 30. _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024

Half apologizing. Crying for the cameras. Disgusting. Announce the injury and get off stage. Can't believe people are buying his bs. He's just trying to get sympathy for himself. |
You don't think it's possible that Myers was crying because he knew it was (partly) his fault, and also because the injury likely wiped out their best chance at another championship, either this year or in the future? |
Or maybe he likes KD and is sad to see him injured? |
Was he really crying though? looked fake to me _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |

Bob Myers looked fake to me. He was covering his own ass, was the way I saw it. I think it will come out that the FO, coaches and perhaps some players, were questioning KD's willingness to come back and compete. Sadly, he came back far too soon and this was the result.
Shame on those who pushed KD to come back.....
Unless this was 100% KD's decision, shame on everyone....
But more so, shame on the Raptor fans cheering him as he crumpled to the floor. I think karma bites them all and the warriors come back and win the whole thing.....
I feel bad for KD..... |

Don’t see the need for the blame game here.
KD wanted to play, his team wanted him to play, he got hurt. It happens. Its sports. |

yes, everybody including athlete should wait until their injuries are completely healed before resuming sport activity... this includes steph, klay or kawhi or me or you. |

The timeline looks like this:
KD's not ready.
KD's not ready.
Klay is hurt.. Oh let's hold him out out of abundance of caution. EVEN THOUGH HE WANTS TO PLAY! We still have more games to play.
KD practiced 1 on 1 and looked bad.
Oh NO! We are facing elimination.
Grumble Grumble.. Why is KD taking so long..? Grumble...
Day of = KD is cleared to practice.
KD plays 12 of 14 minutes until he blows out his Achilles.
KD goes from a bad 1 on 1 practice, skips 3 on 3, skips scrimmages, is cleared to practice and plays that night until his leg falls off. What am I missing? |

I think that is possible. I think there would be expectations for him to stay with GSW long term if he opted in and was out all year while they paid him....then bounced. I know he could do that, but I think the optics would not be great. |

Kawhi, Klay, and Steph have played hurt in the playoffs, but KD was playing injured last night. He was skipping around on defense and the lone 1-on-1 move for the missed jumper he attempted was gimpy.
If the doctors agreed he was at no further risk of injury, one can only speculate the original injury included a partially torn Achilles. Only then would he not be at risk of further material injury, as the Achilles needs to be repaired either way (and a full tear can be operated on immediately).
At least it wasn't on the left side. |

Then I'll say it: the Warriors pressured KD to come back, causing re-injury and costing him the rest of his career.
I wasn't surprised when he went down, as I'm sure many felt the same. Horrible treatment from an org pressured to win now. In the end it was KD's choice, but damn, he should have looked across the court at Kawhi and asked himself if the medical staff had his best interest.

Brendan haywood had a really talk about KDs situation on NBA radio today. He said that pressure from the organization and staff is a real thing and it can get so heavy it makes you go against common sense. Said when he was in the playoffs he knew he couldnt go but the staff egged him on and he said he told em he wanted to be able to walkn after he retired and they just said you'll be fine. So i cant even imagine what KD went through. |

I don't see anything that's contrived tbh. He took responsibility and clearly had an emotional response to what happened. He's not your run-of-the-mill president. I watch his interviews from time to time, because he's somewhat of a genius in team construction and the nuances of basketball. He's a legit cool guy who carries himself w/out arrogance. He does a lot for the community and was balling with prisoners at one point. |

KD makes $30 mil a year, the big stars in the league have their own medical people. KD does and they interact with the Warrior medical staff. If they had thought that he shouldn’t play, he wouldn’t have played. The specialists that most NBA teams use are with medical groups that are tops in the US. The Lakers use Kerlan Jobe and they are highly regarded. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
