I'd like to see us hire a very good big man skills development coach who could help transform low cost bigs into serviceable rotation players
If JaVale McGee had this kind of coaching early on in his career he might not be playing for minimum contracts. You sometimes see the flashes of what he could have been. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant
I think this hiring, along with the new asst. coaches, Kidd and Hollins, can be a significant improvement for our team. A new coaching staff can bring a bottom dweller team to a contender in a years time. Kinda how the Rams went from a very bad team to instant contender a few years ago. I'm hoping.
In Vogel I trust.
CN we get some damn additions to the staff yet?!?. Gotta be more to it than three defensive guys. Let’s see about 3 more additions,...(Hornacek please!!).
Reporting w/ @wojespn: The Lakers received permission from Golden State to talk to assistant Ron Adams about a role on Frank Vogel's staff, league sources tell ESPN. It’s unclear Adams' level of interest but Lakers could make case more compelling with significant financial offer.

First of all: Yes, awesome. And glad to hear we're thinking of buying already well-paid assistants off other teams.
But: This only makes the Hollins hire more redundant and puzzling. We're gonna have three defensive experts (really two + a supposed one)...when are we adding an offense/ x&o's guy?

Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Get this done. _________________ 14-5-3-12
Given Kidd was given the highest paid assistant salary, it's hard to see Adams leaving GS to be third place. I'd offer him an associate HC position above Kidd's. At the very least, this is the strongest assistant we have pursued. Good to hear. _________________ 14-5-3-12

Even if Adams isn't interested in joining us, the motivation of our front office (and/or Frank Vogel) to look for a top defensive assistant coach is refreshing.

So Vogel doesn't want to just hire guys he went to frat parties with? That's refreshing. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."
