I'm looking for RPG games in GTA format i.e. free roaming environment with almost no limitations on what you can do, but in an ancient setting in which characters wield swords and ride horses.

Also, what are the best RPG two-player games which can be played on only one TV screen (not the two TV link or whatever that's called.) I'm not looking for wrestling or Tekken type games, but rather the cooperative type games in which you help each other defeat the opponents you're facing

I'm new to gaming so hoping someone could help me out!

Dragonquest has a free roam environment. You have sword, but no horses, you do have a tiger you ride.

its not set in ancient times but the Warriors has a pretty good co-op game. Onimusha is a great rpg game with lots of puzzles and sword wielding, but no horses.
