It’s not like Jerry won Kawhi over with his charm and charisma. They got Kawhi only because they were willing to gut their franchise for Paul George. |
How much will it hurt them to lose all those picks in the next few years? _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Yep - Jerry engineered it. Some people said he was too old or wont be involved. He just finessed the Clippers, the freaking Clippers, into best team in the league. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason! |

So Jerry West trades 5 picks, 2 pick swaps, Gallinari, for Paul George, a lesser player than Anthony Davis, and is heralded a hero?
Only in Kawhi logic is Paul George > Lebron, Davis. There is no basketball argument for Kawhi to be choosing PG over Lebron/AD.
So you're talking a franchise that went all out to get Kawhi, which is fine. Good for them and Kawhi. I bet Kawhi would have signed with the Lakers had the Lakers been willing to trade Lebron,
However it does not make you a genius or anything amazing. You've got Lebron and AD here, and the free agent wants his own team and to be in the spotlight. That's all it was. There is no genius at play here.
If people argue that Lakers will regret trading their future picks with AD trade. Then what about Clippers? They gave up even more, for an older player who is likely not to be able to make an impact 2-3 years from now.
It's all risky, just like the AD trade. Clippers banking that Kawhi will repeat the 2019 playoffs for a few more times. Only difference is this. He's now going through the West playoffs. East playoffs as Lebron showed for a decade, a superstar can carry through. Lets see what they do with Kawhi in the West. Lets see how his legs hold up now he's in the West, and there's so much more star power in each playoff series. |

PEOPLE PEOPLE. YOU STILL DONT GET IT.
KAHWI DOESNT WANT TO BE SECOND BANANA.
HE DELIBERATELY DRAGGED HIS INTENTION UNTIL NO MORE GOOD PIECES LAKERS COULD SIGN TO COMPETE WITH HIM AND GEORGE.
HAD LAKERS SIGNED OTHER STARS LIKE D'ANGELO RUSSELL, IT EOULD BE HARD TO COMPETE AGAINST LAKERS.
KAHWI IS NOT THST DUMB. HE PLAYED THE CARD TILL LAKERS GOT FULLY NAKED. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |

The Clippers wouldn't had SGA or those Miami picks (the best assets in that PG deal tbh) if West ...and I'm assuming he played a big part in that.. hadn't acquired those assets from dealing players they didn't want anymore, Griffin/ Harris. Those were assets at their disposal and they used them to acquire PG and Kawhi too if we're being honest. Their backs were against the wall here. If the Lakers had signed Kawhi and created a super team they might as well have folded the Clippers for the next 5-7 years tbh. |

You have to be so stupid not to see something fishy with Kahwi's delay. A manager with great instinc should have guessed correctly that Kahwi would not want to a laker. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |

You can say the Clippers sees this as trading all those players and picks to land both PG and Kawhi.
Just like you can also say that Lakers trading all their young core and picks was in hopes to get AD and Kawhi ($32 million cap space). _________________

Yeah, that’s how I see it also. It’s a package deal. They wouldn't have traded all those assets ONLY for PG if Kawhi wasn’t coming. |

Woj said Kawhi would be a Laker today if the PG deal doesn't get made. And no it wasn't a sure thing either, OKC could've rejected it merely out of spite.
So it's kinda silly to assume that this was some sort of a Kawhi/West/PG conspiracy to deliberately sabotage the Lakers. Sure, it ultimately ended up hurting the Lakers but that was just the cherry on top. |

Yeah... how do you know if woj just made it up to makeclakers feel good or not.
I mean, Lakers should have known that Kahwi was not 100% about wanting to be a laker with his delay. Anybody can smell it. Its not a rocket science to delay a decision to play with 2 top 5. If 2 top 5 does not convince you, then You should have moved on. Its no rocket science! _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |

So if a player doesn't sign with your team 1 min after the free agency period begins, he was never serious about it? Ridiculous. Sure, it's no secret that Kawhi's first choice was the Clips. I even said it was the perfect fit for him. But if he were hellbent on being a Clipper, he would have signed even before they made the trade for PG. But he waited to make sure the trade was completed before signing because if the trade had fallen through, he was ready and willing to sign with the Lakers. Why is that so hard to believe?
And yeah, Woj is always making stuff up and never right about anything. Give me a break.... |
